You can hurt me no longer cause I'm not there,
And your blank expression shows you don't care,
My love hurt so much it made me cry,
The pain I felt was never a lie.
It started so well on our first few dates,
Convinced as I was that we were soul mates,
But the darkness you hid behind those eyes,
It shattered my dreams and caused my demise.
The odd little word here and there,
Progressed to prodding then pulling hair,
Slapping and punching soon entered the game,
As you stood over me screaming a name.
The only thing I did was to love you too much,
But your darkness inside destroys everything you touch,
Cuts and bruises I hid them all for you,
Lying to friends but I guess that they knew.
As much as I tried I just could not please,
And your constant abuse brought me to my knees,
My fight was gone and my nerves were shattered,
So now my escape from you was all that mattered.
I could not leave cause you wouldn't let me go,
And there was no place to hide that you didn't know,
So with a heavy heart I drew the blade across my wrist,
And I left this life where I wouldn't be missed.
