"Lindsey! Your going to be late for school!" Mother yelled from the kitchen. Groaning, I rolled of the bed onto the floor. Staring at the ceiling, I let my thoughts roam. Today was the first day of 8th grade, and I'm not excited at all. Sure, my friends are going to be there, but what's the point of going if in the end, you are as clueless as you were to begin with.

I got up slowly, going toward my closet. I tried to waste as much time as I could, since I am so 'eager' to start the day. I took out my black converse, a pair of Levi's, and my all time famous 'I.D.G.A.F' shirt.

When I was little, I always thought life would be more than going to school ever day, practically trapped in a jail. I always wanted to be destined for something, anything. But now I know that won't happen. We are all just zombies, in a giant world, on a damn leash. Rats in a maze. Fish in a bowl. Anything but greatness.

I practically dragged myself outside, just as the bus rolled up in front of my house. Shuffling my feet, I grabbed my book bag and made my way to the bus. As usual, I sat in the front window seat, alone. It's not that everyone hates me, it's just that I prefer my own space. Plugging my headphones in my phone, I slipped them into my ears, slowly getting away from reality. But of course, the bus jolted towards, coming to a stop. And one of the most popular people entered. I wanted her intestines on a stick...

"Well... If it isn't Mrs. Lindsey Rodriguez? How was your summer? Let me guess, spent your whole day in your room because your too fat to move?" Amy laughed, making everyone else laugh. Everyone practically follows her, what ever she does, they do. It's like a game of monkey-see monkey-do. "It was great, thanks. I see you got another plastic surgery? What happened, couldn't bare the ugly-ness?" I said, fake pouting. She glared at me, sashaying her way to her seat with her friends. Of course, no one laughed. If anyone laughed at me, they'd never hear the end of it. Amy made sure my life was horrible.

Entering school was much worse. After the 10 minute fight to actually enter, I finally squeezed in. The hallways were no easier. Everyone pushed me to the side, of course. Finally, I made it to my class. Entering with my head hung low, everyone stared. "Lindsey!" I was surprised by my best; and only, friend Vanessa. She was always an honors student, who kept her head high. She was a happy-go-lucky girl who can get a way better friend than me. But she stayed anyways. She hugged me tight, before sitting down at our table in the corner. "Jesus, you're way to happy. Do you realize This is our first day of school?" I commented, getting my books out, as we waited for the teacher. "And our last year together! Soon we will have to leave to high school, and there isn't much of a chance we would get in the same one. I want this year to be the best." She smiled at me.

I turned as white as a ghost. Vanessa was my friend since pre-k. Without her, I would literally have nobody. My mom is always working and my dad is in another state, due to there divorce. I shook of the thought and smiled instead. "Your right, sorry for being grumpy, but I can't help it. It's scho-" "Hello class!" The teacher came in with a pile of books in his hands and car keys in the other. "Sorry I'm late, I was printing out your tests for today." The whole class moaned. "Either this, or a. 5 page essay about your summer." The class stayed silent this time, as the teacher passed out the tests, smirking.

If this keeps going, I'm going to have a long year...
