SHIT THAT'S GONNA HAPPEN IN THIS CHAPTER:
1) OKAY, SO QUEEN FARAH WILL SEND TROOPS TO RYDER AND ZHU'S SCHOOL. THEY WILL BE DISGUISED AS NEW STUDENTS. NOBODY WOULD SUSPECT THAT THE NUMBER OF NEW STUDENTS IN A DAY WAS UNUSUALLY HIGH, CUZ OFC HUMANS ARE DUMB. LOL NOPE, THEIR TROOPS ARE GONNA PUT A KIND OF VEIL ON HUMAN EYES. OH YES, AND UM WHAT IF........SOMEONE FROM THAT TROOP OF QUEEN FARAH'S CAME AS A NEW TEACHER TO THEIR SCHOOL THAT DAY?? FUCK, IG THAT'D BE COOL. WHY AM I EVEN WRITING IN CAPS?? OH, IT DOESN'T MATTER. ANYWAYS. THEY'D BE ASKED TO SHOW AROUND THE SCHOOL BY RYDER AND ZHU OBVIO. AND THEN THEY WILL CAPTURE THEM.
2) they will be injured badly ofc, because since they are purebloods, they naturally have some original untamed strength which they use while fighting against said troop. there is gonna be-
a) CUTS. LOTS OF THEM
b) RYDER'S NOSE WILL BLEED.
c) ZHU WILL HAVE A BROKEN HAND AND A HUGE GASH ON THEIR FOREHEAD.
3) okay, so that teacher who is also a part of that troop will be queen Farah herself. zhu will recognize her when they see those fiery gazes of green eyes.
4) ofc, to test how much untamed power and strength they have, they will be made to starve for 2 days (also, no water), after which they'll be given two dry slices of bread and a glass of water. if anyone of them asks for food/water before the completion of 2 days, their punishment will be: THEY WILL BE TOUCHED WITH RED-HOT COALS. is that punishment enough? hmm, I guess for the first test, yeah.
5) oooohhhh and what about Ryder's mom? hmm, what about her? OH YES. during the commotion of war, Ryder, drunk on bloodshed, will be killing anyone he sees in front of him. and when his mom would stumble upon him (she was held captive and let loose during the war), Ryder, mistaking her to be the enemy, would throw her off a cliff.
THERE IS AN AGE-OLD BEEF THAT CAUSES THE WAR.
HISTORY OF BROKEN DRAGON PINES-
So, long ago, this forest's name was The Angelic Hood. They were formed alongside the human civilisation, however, they had no connection to humans whatsoever. Time slows down in this forest by a day and generations pass by faster. Humans didn't know about the existence of this forest, however, with time when purebloods started decreasing, the power of The Angelic Hood started decreasing and so did its invisibility. The magical people living there could never leave that forest unless they found their mate, who was a human. Human mates were not uncommon, however, love is looked down upon by the people in The Angelic Hood. The royals believed that love makes a person weak. People who fell in love often lost their precision in magic and forgot spells. They used to become physically weaker and aged faster. Citizens of the forest often went on quests outside to find out humans with potential for magic. These humans were not allowed to fall in love. If they did, their lovers were killed in front of them. Citizens of the forest who are originally magical can leave that place forever after a negotiation with the ruler. Purebloods and royals can never leave.
In this forest, the trees are magical. Every tree has a different coloured orb inside them which gives them the magic they have. Fairies of the forest have musical instruments. Nobody in this place owns a weapon, other than the royals and purebloods, for they think of them to be lowly and unworthy of them.
Ryder's mom was a pureblood royal who didn't like magic and the fact that purebloods had so much pressure on being the "perfect" in magic. Also, it is not that only royals get to be purebloods, anyone can be a pureblood. Purebloods have golden blood and are able to access the most sensitive of spells. They are stronger than normal magical people and even they are forbidden from love. Lyson, his mom, fell in love with Calista, (a fairy) when she was 23, even when she knew it was forbidden. Her brother Zephyr, unknowingly stumbled upon them while they were holding hands, making golden sparks fly out from their intertwined fingers. (Different coloured sparks fly out when soulmates hold hands.) Zephyr immediately got to know that Lyson had met her soulmate and he was determined to wreck her life. (Zephyr hated Lyson because 1. she was openly a lesbian and he was homophobic as f u c k and 2. he was jealous of her being a pureblood, for Lyson wasn't a royal, yet a pureblood who did everything better than him, and him being a royal wasn't a pureblood and wasn't half as good at anything Lyson did. Lyson is his adopted sister. He kept their relationship hidden for a year, till Lyson was 24.)
Lyson, while making love to Calista, had wished upon all her wishes for something special that will keep her happy forever, (even though she knew it was impossible, with Zephyr knowing she broke the rules and fell in love) and the magic of her heart created Ryder and Zhu. She held her hand and kissed it and that's when golden dust flickered around them and rested on Calista's bosom.
On Lyson's 24th birthday, Zephyr announced to his parents (who were the King and the Queen) that she had a soulmate. Her parents, furious at the discovery and that she had broken their age-old tradition, ordered Calista to be publicly executed. No amount of begging would do. Unable to see her lover die, she kissed Calista the night before her public execution and took the two infants with her and ran away to the mortal world, determined to never come back. (No pureblood/royal had ever tried running away forever.) Lyson was hunted down for two months straight, where, in the process, the King and the Queen were murdered by Calista's parents. Zephyr became the King then, after which, under his rule, The Angelic Hood hit its rock bottom, with many of its citizens protesting for love to be allowed, while another set of people protesting for the rules to ban love as it was, traditionally. (Lyson was very much loved by the townsfolk who are protesting for love to be allowed, for her running away was a cause of great distress to them.)

Later on, due to many people running away from The Angelic Hood and due to numerous wars amongst these two groups, which Zephyr couldn't control for he was drunk in a fading glory, the kingdom fell to its ruins. It became named The Broken Dragon Pines and its invisibility cover completely died. Due to this, numerous fairies and magical citizens die due to too much exposure to the mortal world, and the once happy place changed to the Broken Dragon Pines as you, Ryder and Zhu see it now.
To control the fights, Farah and Fatima divided the place into two kingdoms, both hoping to see a new generation of purebloods who'd once again bring back the glory of this place.

Meanwhile, Lyson couldn't take Zhu because they took so much after Calista. So she, unable to look into the infant's eyes that resembled Calista's, gave them away to the mortal family living beside their house, who was childless and wanted a baby badly. Zhu grew up there ever since. When giving away the baby, Lyson told everything to their parents, for she knew that someday or the other something will happen. She had an intuition. Zhu's parents are extremely caring, and Lyson and their parents have bonded well in the years after.
