Tacenda: (n.) things better left unsaid; matters to be passed over in silence.

What was he doing back? Why did he leave in the first place?

A million thoughts scattered my mind, I hadn't noticed anything around me.

Jo teased me before about how curious I had been but never the one to pursue questions. She said I'd been a rare breed for not being able to be built with stress about not knowing things.

I told her, 'If people want to tell me something, I wouldn't need to ask. They can tell me on their own accord.'

Of course I was contradicting myself since I also hadn't been a fan of liars.

Only ones who persist it, to be specific

"When do you think they'll break out for air?" Grant whispered beside me, jolting me out of my trance. I let out a scoff, smiling at the remark as we diverted to look at Zariah and Finley making out across the table.

"Mm, they've been going at it since lunch started," I placed a tater tot in my mouth whilst Grant and I began to talk.

"Sorry about not being able to meet your brother,"

Grant waved a lazy hand, "It's cool, Clarke and Finley said they got him a job helping out in cleaning."

He smiled, turning his attention toward his lunch.

Zariah and Finley however, finally let go.

"Have you guys seen the new kid yet?" Zariah reached for her bag, applying chapstick back onto her plum lips. Finley and I shook our heads whilst Grant lifted his head, bewildered. "There's a new student?"

Zariah let out a laugh, "Oh sweet Kingsley, How do you manage to avoid all the gossip?" Grant turned a light shade of red, shrugging and focusing back on his sandwich.

I think that's how Grant had been friendly with everyone, he knew to stay out everyone else's business and diverted away from any oncoming drama. He and I were similar in that sense but I was still interested on the infamous stories or made up rumours people could gather.

"It makes sense," I added, "His first day is today so the first few periods he should be getting his books ready."

Zariah nodded her head in agreement, reaching for one of my tater tots.

"Uh, Keira," She voiced out, her dark eyes widened, reaching out to my hand. "I need to go to the bathroom." I nodded, taking another tatertot and stuffing it in my mouth before standing up with her as she continued holding my hand to the bathroom.

Once we reached them, Zariah bent down, checking every stall.

Oh, it's one of those bathroom breaks.

"What's up?" I asked, washing my hands.

"Clarke told me about the little appearance yesterday, Are you okay?"

She asked, holding both my shoulders. "You were devastated last time, I know you said you were over it but facing him again must've been hard."

I held back the thought,

    Think about something else, think.

"I'm okay, Zar. I got it out of my system yesterday. Everything is brushed off and gone, just like a dream." I smiled, reaching for the paper towel.

"If you need anything though—"

"I know," I smiled, reaching up to my friend and hugging her,
