Leaving home was hard. Especially when I knew I'd never be back. Never walk in to find my mother baking, or my father and Uncle Lenny bickering over what game was more important on the television.
I wiped a stray tear that had fallen as I stood staring at a photograph of the four of us.
They were all dead, so how did I survive? I certainly hadn't done anything extraordinary, so why me?
Picking up the only lit candle in my room I set the corner of the photo on fire.
As I watched the flames consume the glossy paper, I realized something. I needed a fresher start than the one I had with Liam.
Not move out of the country new, but put all my demons to rest.
We would take care of Tony and go back to Italy. My beloved home would be sold to some new family, and I'd go back to doing what I did best. Killing. But not mindless slaughtering, that had been going on for way to long.
I dropped the remnants of the unrecognizable photo and blew out the candle. Immediately the room was cloaked in darkness and I smiled, it was still dark.
I found Lexi and Liam chatting in the living room. They both looked up quickly, seemingly startled by my entrance. I knew immediately they'd been talking about me.
Crossing my arms, I shot them a glare. "What is it?"
Lexi fidgeted nervously, shaking her hair back. But Liam was the one that answered. "We were worried, You were all excited, then you just..." He trailed off shrugging.
"I had to sort out some personal business. I'm fine now." And I was. Sure I was leaving everything behind again, but there was nothing holding me there anymore.
Lexi gave a curt nod and hugged me. When I was about to pull way, she tightened her grip and whispered, "help him out Belle, he really loves you." Cupid, that one.
When she pulled away, I nodded subtly toward the door. Taking the hint, she grinned. "I have some stuff to deal with. Ten minutes, then we're leaving."
I knew she meant work it out, and work it out fast.
I sunk down, so that I was sitting next to Liam and tried to appear relaxed.
"Do you love me Liam?" Bluntness had always been my best friend.
He spluttered about for a minute before muttering a small "yes." Well. That settled that.
"Good. I love you too."
His whole face lit up, and I couldn't help but smile back. How could you not be happy with Liam around, he causes it so effortlessly.
"So, about that kiss..." He started.
I smiled slightly, leaning in a pressing my lips to his.
Pulling back, I trailed them over to his ear. "What was that?"
"N-nothing." He stuttered. I bit the inside of my cheek from laughing and continued on with my fun. "Thought so."
He leaned in, and I brought up a hand, firmly pressing my pointer finger to his lips.
"Not so fast." I whispered.
He mumbled something along the lines of 'tease.'
Completely pulling my hand away, I replaced it with my lips. "I am no tease."
