As I dismounted my bicycle outside the London, a rush of excitement ran through me. I would soon be able to bring Delia back home, where the sun would shine down on the flowers every morning, and I could nurse her on my own, for every day for the rest of our lives. But for now, she would have to be carefully monitored at the London, where I could only see her once a day.
"Delia..." The wave of sympathy and love washed over me as i saw her poor, scarred face and the splint holding her broken leg in place.
"Pats?" Slowly, day by day, Delia's memory was returning, and she could now recognise me when I came to visit. Delia had never forgotten her love for me, though the few weeks when she didn't remember were hell for me.
Gently, i stroked her face, and we gazed into each other eyes for a few seconds, before Delia couldn't hold it together any longer.
