Tinanaw ko ang labas ng bintana habang umaandar ang kotse ni Ezra. The houses we pass by in a blur. Sa loob ng limang taon na pagkawala ko, hindi ko maipagkakaila ang iilang pagbabago sa Manila. Ngunit hindi parin nagbago ang magulo, maingay at mausok na atmosphere nito.

"Ry, di kita masusundo mamaya. May emergency sa trabaho eh." Paliwanag nya. Tinanguan ko na lang ito. Paminsan-minsan, kay Ezra ako sumasabay pag pumupunta ako sa lab ng kompanya na kabilang ako. Kapag hindi naman ay nag-grab na lang ako.

"I'll just book a grab, Ezra." Sagot ko dito. I turned the volume of the radio up dahil maganda ang tugtog.

"Bakit kasi hindi ka na lang bumili ng kotse?" Ezra asked and I scoffed.

"Bakit pa eh hindi naman ako magtatagal dito? I told you I'm only staying a month here because of work." Anas ko at napasimangot naman ang kaibigan.

"Final na talaga yon, Ryleigh? Walang dagdag ng isa pang buwan?" Usisa nya. I smiled at her and looked away.

"My life is in Switzerland." Maikling sagot ko dito.

"Ouch ha. Parang wala kang memories dito." She faked being offended and I laughed it off. Yeah, I had plenty of memories here. Most were something I'd like to forget. Even so, I'd still leave no matter how happy I used to be here.

She stopped the car in front of a tall and big hospital. I thanked Ezra before stepping out of the car. Tiningala ko ang mataas na building. It looked modern for a hospital. Napa-hinga ako ng malalim ng makita ang malaking sign 'SA Hospital'.

Kung hindi lang dahil sa trabaho ay hindi ako pupunta dito but I need to. There's a data gathered here that I need to analyze. Nakakuwa naman ng permission ang kompanya na kabilang ako.

Pumasok na ako sa loob ng ospital at dumeretso sa reception area and enquiry counter nito. I stated my name and she immediately called for someone. I patiently wait in the hospital's lobby. Maraming mga tao, nurse at doctor ang kumikilos.

"Engineer Jiminez," tawag ng isang boses. Agad akong napatayo at lumingon sa direksyon na pinanggalingan noon. I stared at the woman in white coat with wide eyes.

I know the lady in the reception area called for a doctor or a staff. But I never expected Doktora Candice Aldana to greet me in person.

Agad naman na dumaloy ang awkwardness sa katawan ko. Hello? She's the mother of the man I shared a past with. Syempre, I'll feel awkward.

"Doktora Aldana, nice to meet you." Bati ko dito at awkward na ngumiti. Despite her old age, hindi parin maipagkakaila ang ganda nito. I bet she looks gorgeous in her teenage years.
