Kai slowly opened his eyes after what seemed like an eternity of dreamless sleep. He looked around for a moment, a little confused. The last thing he remembered was staring up at the night sky, but he no longer seemed to be in the forest at all. Instead, he was laying in a rather comfortable bed inside a small bedroom. He winced slightly as he sat up. His eyes widened as he remembered the arrow wound. His hand flew to his shoulder, but the arrow was no longer there. He looked down to see that his wound had been tightly bandaged. He threw off the comforter and stepped off the bed. His armor had been removed and was replaced with a pair of comfortable shorts. He was shirtless with another bandage wrapped around his abdomen.

He took a look around the room he was in. It was painted a soft gray with a window on the wall next to him, and there was a large mirror on the wall directly across from him with a dresser below it. Next to the dresser stood a dark oak door with a brass  handle.

Kai stared at the door for a few moments before walking over to it. He reached towards the handle to open it when he heard movements on the other side. He paused with his hand hanging in mid-air, a few inches away from the handle. Whoever had brought him here was just on the other side of this door.

He waited a bit longer, mentally preparing himself to meet the stranger who had helped him. He took one more deep breath and turned the handle.
The door opened outwards into a small, dark hallway with a bright light coming from the other end. There were sounds of someone humming a stange melody accompanied by the clink of pots and pans coming from the room, which he guessed must be the kitchen.
Kai slowly let go of the doorframe and carefully made his way to the end of the hallway. He grasped the side of the wall and cautiously peaked around the corner.
There was a tall man standing in front of a wide sink, which was filled with dirty dishes. The man kept on humming while scrubbing a silver pot. Kai hesitated for a moment before he finally spoke.
     "Um, hello?"
