Why am I afraid...

"I don't know..." She barely muttered.

The cold wind brushed against her fair skin, the sensation of fear consumed over her body as she laid in her bed, and the thoughts of that person returned to her mind.

It was exactly two weeks since they last spoke face to face properly, from that night when they got too close to each other and who knows what would've happened if they got closer.

Why did she let her go away?

It wasn't like she never dated before, neither was she new from being friends to dating. What could be holding her back so much?

Why did her hands shake when it moved on its own at that time?

Why did her breath stutter when her eyes bore into her own?

Why did her heart frantically beat whenever she went close to her?

How she could laugh at the irony and hypocrisy at herself, didn't she say so herself that she preferred honest answers and honest feelings, yet here she was, pondering and running away in the fear of the uncertain future?

"Damn you, Mona." Keqing gritted her teeth as her mind relieved her of the times the pair spent together months ago, of how genuine their 'relationship' was.

"Mona," Lumine snapped Mona out of her world, "Is everything ok?"

"What do you mean? Everything's ok." Mona innocently blinked at Lumine and turned around from the sofa to face her.

"I don't know, you seem a bit," Lumine tilted her head to think of the right word, "Sad."

"Pfft?" Mona scoffed. She's technically not wrong., "Well you could blame the two essays I have to do by next week and they're about flowers again."

"Flowers? Again?" Lumine laughed, her worries slowly diminished by Mona's mood, "Your teacher is obsessed with flowers, even symbolism in general."

"Yeah, maybe I could ask Albedo for help, he paints a lot of flowers specifically right?" Mona said, she did actually need help on types of flowers.

"He's really specific about flowers because every type has some sort of meaning," Lumine chuckled to herself, remembering the time Albedo had a long list of flower symbolism, "Oh by the way, how are you and your sugar mom? You two haven't gone out for a while, or at least I haven't seen you go out."

Ah, Mona's heart sank at the implication of 'Keqing', they both still haven't talked, at least on purpose, but she didn't want Lumine to know that and instead gave a laugh on the outside.

"We were really busy and our timetable didn't match up so we couldn't find time to hang out." Mona lied with a smile.

"True, I heard Childe have upcoming tests so that means Keqing would have tests to study for as well." Lumine shrugged.

She finally left Mona alone after a couple more minutes of talking, which felt like an hour for Mona to hold in her feelings.

By now, Mona already knew that she liked- perhaps even loved Keqing more than a friend during the two weeks, the simple thought of Keqing made her stomach flutter with joy and made her wish that Keqing could have all the luxuries in the world.

These powerful and undeniable emotions that ran through her, ultimately scared Mona because she had never been that in love with someone before, her past partners don't even compare close to Keqing and it scared her.

She loved how Keqing was sometimes stubborn and persistent, but she could deal with Mona's character, she loved how Keqing would try to show physical gestures to show that she cares, she loved making Keqing happy to see her smile and hear her laughter, she loved the way Keqing's hair would flow in the wind behind her-
