Thorn rushed into the hospital waiting room and pulled Kai into a tight hug. Tears were streaming down both of their faces. "I never thought that Cinder would be first," Thorn said with a shaky breath

"I know, I haven't been able to breathe all day. It feels like an elephant is sitting on my chest and I know that after today my life will never be the same." Kai said between sobs

Pulling Kai into another tight hug Thorn patted him on the back, "I know you're scared but we are all here for you"

The rest of the Rampion crew walked into the waiting room and joined Kai and Thorn in their hug turning it into a large, strange, group hug.

The first time Kai ever saw Cinder she was in her mechanics shop and he knew he was in love. Throughout their whole conversation, he was trying to make her laugh or blush or just smile. It was awkward and strange. He knew that after he met her that day everything was going to change for him, and that was completely fine.

A doctor in a pristine, white coat walked into the waiting room interrupting Kai and Scarlet's conversation. "Emperor Katio," she said in a soft voice "you can come see the Empress now."

Kai stood up, quickly followed by the rest of the crew "Oh I'm sorry but only the Emperor can come right now" she said in an, if possible, softer voice.

Giving the crew a somewhat reassuring smile and blinking back tears Kai followed the doctor down the bright, sterile hallways of the hospital. "I know that this is probably out of place," the doctor said as they rounded a corner, "but I think you need to put on a brave face for the Empress. She is in a lot of pain right now and needs to depend on you."

Nodding his head, Kai cleared his throat, whipped the tears from his eyes, then stepped into Cinders hospital room.

The first time Kai and Cinder kissed, not counting the weird kiss at the peace ball, was aboard the Rampton. That kiss was full of love and passion. The few moments that they kissed Kai somehow forgot where he was, what had happened before, and all of his responsibilities. He knew that she loved him, he could tell from the way she kissed him and that was more than enough for him.

Cinder let go a cry of pain and squeezed Kai's hand even tighter. It hurt him to see her in so much pain but it hurt him, even more, to know that there was nothing he could do to help her. "It will be alright, I'm here, I'm here for you and will be forever," Kai said, trying, and failing, to keep his composer.

Kai kissed her on top of her head, he stayed that way for a long time. Breathing in the scent of her hair he felt a small sliver of peace creep into the fear that was surrounding him.

"Kai," Cinder whispered desperately before closing her eyes.

The first time Kai had awoken with Cinder in his arms he felt perfectly content. He knew how much they both loved each other. He wished that every morning for the rest of his life he could awake just like this. He knew however that he would have to go back to earth soon and she would have to stay on Luna so he savored the feeling of her in his arms while he could.

Kai sat in a hospital bed next to Cinder holding her cold hand. More tears than he thought were possible were gushing down his face, that combined with the ginormous smile on his face was almost completely clouding his vision.

Cinder looked up at Kai with an equally large smile on her face and used the thumb of her human hand to wipe away his tears although it made no difference as they were easily replaced by fresh ones. "Stars Kai, who knew you would be such a wreck?"

"Well," Kai said with a small laugh, "I have to cry enough for the both of us, Miss.NoTearDucts."

Cinder rolled her eyes, "I will punch you"

"No you won't I'm holding a baby and after all the work you went thru to get him her you best not hurt him"

Looking down at her new baby boy she said in a cooing voice "no I would never hurt such a pressure baby, but I might hurt his dumb dad, yes I might, yes I might"

"wow, Cinder teaching your child violence at such a young age tut-tut," Thorn said sarcastically leaning on the door frame, "carry on like that an, I don't know, he might overthrow the government of an entire planet by the time he's 17"

"one it was a moon, not a planet, and two he would but with a lot more sass," Scarlet said, stepping into the room by pushing Thorn out of the way.

"Ha ha ha," cinder said sarcastically "well if he did his parents would support him."

The rest of the crew came into the small room crowding it. They each took a turn to hold the baby.

"I never thought that you would be the first to have a baby, Cinder," Cress said while staring down at the prince.

"I know I didn't either, well I didn't think I would ever have kids, but I am beyond happy to have him" Cinder responded looking like she already misses the baby after only not holding him for about five minutes.

Kai was beyond happy, he loved his baby, his wife, and all of his friends despite their sarcasm, aggression, and oddities. Yes he was scared to be a father but he knew that his baby would have the best mother and the best aunts and uncles any kid could ask for, and that was enough for him.

Well idk I loved this in theory but not so much in execution so ya thank you if you read this far. Let me know if y'all were confused or if, like I hoped, you thought she was dying.
