Mission

She'd like to think that the mission went well but in reality it was an absolute disaster. The mission was supposed to be get in and get out without being noticed. However the security was increased due to a soldier getting food poisoning a few days before. The entire place had guards crawling around with guns and cameras on every angle of the ship. It was nothing Natasha Romanoff couldn't handle even as underprepared as she was. She was wishing she had some backup, handling all of these guards was a lot of work even with the serum coursing through her veins.

Natasha groaned as she sat down after punching in the coordinates for the Avengers Tower. She looked down and realized she needed stitches, badly, and soon otherwise the pristine silver floor would be dyed red. She needed to get back up but the floor was slowly getting covered in crimson blood and Natasha was starting to get sleepy. She stood up and then nearly collapsed onto the floor. The blood loss was definitely starting to get to her.

Come on Natasha. Get up four more steps to the medical supplies. Get cleaned up, give yourself some stitches then you can nap until you get home.

The internal pep talk helped Natasha and with a lot of strength she took four careful steps over to the medical center. She had several places that needed stitches one on her side and two on her legs and a deep gash on her face.

After a one excruciatingly long hour Natasha was laying on a cot with all of her injuries stitched. Then her phone started ringing. She looked down and Steve's contact was displayed. She answered the phone and put it on speaker.

    Natasha||Steve
"Hey."
"Hey. When do you get here? I want to go get a coffee."
"Should be there in like forty minutes the mission wasn't extremely far from the Tower. And it's almost 3am. Why do you need coffee?"
"Well we are going to Clints soon so i'm making a list of everything that everyone will need."
"Ummm actually I'm pretty tired. So maybe we can get coffee in the morning, or before we leave for Clints."
"Hey are you ok? You are always down for late coffee runs before training. The only time you don't want to is if you got injured... Wait, Nat are you injured??"
"Night Steve."

Natasha ended the call there. Even though Steve was her partner on most missions, she didn't want everyone to worry about her. It would ruin the trip if they knew how hurt she actually was. She was just going to have to avoid Steve until they left for the trip.

At the tower in her room
"Nat, I know you don't want to see me. I also know that you are injured. And I'm going to tell everyone unless you let me in. And I brought you coffee, I know you don't sleep very well after missions," Steve said through Natasha's closed door.

Natasha got up from her spot on the floor and unlocked and opened the door for Steve.

"I'll take the coffee," Natasha said in a cold detached voice.

"Talk to me. Nat, please," Steve said, his voice breaking with the last word.

"Fine, you want to know. Fury said the job would be easy and he lied. Now I have to pretend that everything is fine or they will put me in a hospital bed and everyone will worry about me. You know what else I have four really bad gashes all over my body that I had to stitch myself. And here I am worrying about the trip to Clint's house," Natasha exploded.

"Nat," Steve pulled Natasha into a hug.

They stayed there for a while before shifting to the couch to watch a movie, most nights they ended up on one of their couches after missions. They usually ended up falling asleep in each other's arms. But they both swore it was a friends thing, how wrong they were.
