a popular and borderline spoiled juno meets a rowdy runaway named amber and gets exposed to the horrible truth.
EXTENDED SUMMARY
juno truly had it all. she wasn't rich, but she definitely was upper-class. you could tell by her huge house with a bedroom the size of an apartment that her loving parents bought for her. her school life was just as good. she was a part of the school council and was considered one of the most hardworking students highgate academy had ever seen. she was intelligent, popular, and rich. yes, juno truly had it all.
amber, on the other hand, had it quite rough. she grew up with a mentally abusive grandmother and a weak grandfather who never had the power to stick up for her. she avoided going outside, as her grandmother convinced her at a young age that the kids in the neighborhood would treat her worse than she treats her. despite this, amber's desire to go outside never got weaker. at the age of 16, while being aided by her grandfather, she escaped. she ran through the woods in her pajamas with nothing but a bag filled with canned food and water, that could only probably last her week.
not too long after she left, she found a group of about 15 kids who were all the results of government testing of newfound chemicals. the testing left the children with different abnormalities like multiple limbs, super strength, telekinesis, etc. they were defensive when she first came to them, thinking she was coming to take them away. (which is understandable seeing as it has happened before)
NOTES
- they met at a party. one amber wasn't invited to; not that anyone cared, they were all too drunk and distracted to care about the person who literally snuck in.
- the pair hit it off almost instantly. they had a lot in common surprisingly.
- after juno asked why she had never seen her around school, amber sheepishly confessed that she had just snuck in. juno only responded with a slightly off-put "oh?" before she quickly changed the subject.
- when amber took juno to see the people she had been staying with, she was terrified. until she gad learned what happened to them
- because juno had always been an empath, so her immediate reaction to the news was sorrow
- the kids and amber live in an abandoned mansion in the woods close to where juno's school is
- umm so the planned twist is that juno parents are the scientists who gave them the mutations, and that's where the money they use to give juno all this stuff is coming from. you dont have to use that plot twist tho if you have an idea you want to use😅
