"An eggbeater can open anything if you try hard enough"-My mum
-------------------------------------
Valerie groaned as she got up and looked at the clock. Today was her day off of course, but she had woken up at 11:39 am. Not only was this too late for Valerie, this also meant Bucky had woken up before her. And Valerie had always made it her duty (heheh duty) to wake up before him. Get breakfast prepared, make his bed, clean the bathroom, get ready for work, and whatnot. She had known Bucky was still very much coping with the reality of HYDRA. He didn't have the time or mental stability to scramble an egg for himself!

She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and changed, putting on new clothes, taking a shower, and putting on very casual makeup. She walked out to the kitchen in her bunny slippers and saw a sight she had been dreading to see for the past two months...

James Buchanan Barnes was trying to cook.

It looked more like a crime scene rather than an effort to cook, but there was an eggbeater out, a rolling pin, tortillas scattered everyw- AND TACO MEAT ON THE WALLS! HOW DOES SOMEONE GET TACO MEAT ON THE WALLS?

She quivered as Bucky blasted- literally blasted- a can of tomatoes open. Bucky turned to her and his cold and unnerving eyes locked dead onto her warm brown ones.
"I... I'm... Going to cook. For... Us today." He said in a small voice as his gaze turned back to the tomatoes.
Valerie sighed. "T-that's nice.. Only, one question."
Bucky moved to the pan and cautiously turned on the oven. "Yes?"
Valerie entered the kitchen and put the eggbeater away and turned to the taco meat on the walls. "Why is the taco meat defying the laws of gravity and physics?"
She thought for a second.
"Another one, how the HELL did it get up there?"

Bucky stuttered for a second. "I-I thought the whirring thingy would open it.." He said quickly glancing to the pantry where Valerie placed the eggbeater.

There was a silence and then Valerie broke out laughing. "Y-you tried to open a can of TACO MEAT with an eggbeater?" She asked still dumbfounded by the thought.
Bucky simply nodded at her question.

She laughed harder and took a deep inhale. "B-Bucky... I love you." She said jokingly.
Her remark made Bucky's heart flutter as he looked at her and his lips curled up very slightly.
She smiled still and looked at the cookbook that was open. He was trying to make tacos. Wow...
She smiled even brighter. "I can help. And show you how to use a can opener." She joked.
Bucky nodded greatfully as he moved out the way. For some reason, he felt obliged to get on a chair and scoop up- well it WAS already up- so scoop down the not tainted taco meat. She put the tortillas and melted cheese and cut onions, cilantro, tomatoes, lemon, and finally placed the taco meat onto it. She set it onto two plates and put Tabasco sauce on the side and handed him his favourite drink. Caprisun.
Bucky greatfully took the plate and sat on the small rocking chair as he looked SO awkward.
Sipping on a Caprisun as he bit into his taco and unsteadily rocked back and forth. He looked... Cute.
Valerie pushed back these thoughts as she finished her own taco and downed a can of Dr. Pepper.
She turned to him. "We just ate tacos filled with wall-meat and tomatoes that were opened by an eggbeater.."
And for the first time she saw something that Bucky hadn't done in a long time. He probably didn't remember doing it. It was how he became conditioned.
Bucky smiled.
