Snake let out a groan as his cell phone began to ring, rolling over to look at the time --three in the morning-- before answering. "Hello?"
"Oh! Sorry David, did I wake you? Anyhow, I totally forgot about this until about five minutes ago; Scott has one more present but you have to take him to get it." Snake rolled onto his back as he tried to process this information, Scott had another present and his parents forgot about it until three days after?
"Sure, what is it, Mrs. Jund?"
"Well you see, we've been wanting to get him a puppy," oh no, "but we found out we were heading away for the holidays. I have some money in my room on the dresser, go down to the pet shop and let him pick something out." Snake sat up a he rubbed his face, why couldn't they have gotten the dog before they left?
"Yeah, sure, I'll take him out when he wakes up." Snake heard a small squeal from the other side of the line.
"Thank you so much, David! See you in three days!" The call suddenly ended, not that Snake was disappointed, but he was ready to go back to sleep. He tossed his phone off to the side before laying down, suddenly not feeling very tired.
He let out a small sigh as he sat back up and gently rubbed his forehead. "For fuck sakes, of all the times she could've called." He mumbled to himself before getting up, grabbing his phone and bandana as he left his room. He gave a small smile thought when he passed the window, it was raining and he had loads of time to sit there now.
He quickly booked it to the kitchen, turning on the coffee maker before tying his bandana Scott gave him around his forehead. Within a few minutes, he as his coffee and was sitting up on the counter by the window, knees bent as he watched and listened to the rain fall.
He let out a small chuckle as he swayed softly, content with everything. "I set my sail, fly the wind it will take me back to my home, sweet home." Snake closed his eyes, a small smile on his face. "Lie on my back, clouds are making way for me, back to my home, sweet home." Snake paused and took a sip of his coffe before continuing. "I see your star you left it burning for me, mother, I'm here. Eyes open wide, feel your heart and it's glowing, I'm welcome home, sweet home."
Snake opened his eyes and looked out the window, maybe babysitting over the holidays wasn't so bad as he first made it out to be. "I take your hand," Snake froze when a second voice joined in, "now you'll never be lonely," Snake turned and gave Scott a small smile as he joined back in, "not when I'm home, sweet home. I see your star, you left it burning for me, mother, I'm here." Snake couldn't help but stare at Scott, a faint smile plastered on his face.
"Snake?" He let out a small hum. "Can I try something?" Snake gave a curious look but nodded, watching as Scott moved towards him. Snake felt his cheeks heat up as Scott ever so gently pressed his lips to Snake's, the older one softly pulling Scott closer.
Snake suddenly sat bolt upright, looking around as he tried to collect his thoughts.
He was in the guest bedroom.
Snake quickly looked at the alarm clock and saw it read 9:46 A.M., he quickly moved and checked his phone's call log. Yup, Mrs. Jund did phone, had he fallen back asleep? He quickly checked the forecast and saw that there was no rain a few hours ago, so was it all a dream? It seemed so real, Scott's soft lips, the gleam in his brown eyes, the way he had said his name, the way he-
Snake quickly shook his head. "It was a dream, get over it, you're not gay." He scolded himself, though he knew he was fighting a battle he'd already lost.
He let out a sigh as he got up, grabbing his bandana and making his way upstairs to collect the money Mrs. Jund had already set aside. His dream still filled his mind, of all things to dream about why that? He shook his head clear as he entered the master bedroom, finding the money easily before heading back out. As he moved to go downstairs, he heard soft footsteps behind him. Snake glanced over his shoulder and saw a half asleep Scott walking towards him. "How they hell do you get up so early?" Snake couldn't look him in the eyes, hoping the younger one couldn't see his pink tinted cheeks.
"Had troubles sleeping last night." He wasn't exactly lying, he sure as hell couldn't get back to sleep after that.
Scott gave him a confused looked but he seemed to shake it off. "Whatever, anyways, why were you up here?"
"You apparently have one more present, your mother left some money so we could go get it." Scott seemed more awake as he quirked up an eyebrow, giving Snake a skeptic look.
"Let me guess, 'I'm leaving in ten with or without you'." Scott gave a shit eating grin as Snake let out a small sigh.
"I need to get ready as well, we'll head out and eat breakfast once you're ready then go get your present." Scott just nodded as he turned back around and headed to his room, Snake feeling slightly guilty that the dream was effecting him like this. "It was just a dream." He mumbled, heading down the stairs and to his room.
He dressed quickly, wanting to keep his mind off of Scott. That was proving a lot harder than it seemed. "Hey, bastard, what's taking you so long?" The brat was ready changed? Had hell frozen over?
"I was counting money." He didn't like to lie but it was only a small white lie. He quickly grabbed his wallet and phone before they both set off, driving to the nearest iHop for breakfast. Once they were finished, Snake drove to a shelter. He had gotten his own dogs from there and he felt like the dogs from there needed a home more than the puppies at a high end pet shop.
"Where are we?" Scott asked as they got out of the car.
"A pet shelter, your last present is a dog of your choice." Scott gave a huge grin as he lead the way, Snake letting out a small chuckle as he followed.
A short woman --thought she was still taller than Scott-- came and greeted them, her long hair brown with her bangs blonde. She pushed up her glasses as she gave them a friendly smile. "Hello! How are you two?" Scott seemed to shy away slightly, leaving Snake to do the talking.
"We're doing good, we'd like to see the dogs you have up for adoption." The woman smiled and nodded.
"Of course! Right this way!" She turned and headed off with a brisk pace, Scott and Snake quickly following.
Snake blinked his eyes a few times, he swore he remembered her from somewhere. "If you don't mind me asking, what's your name? I feel like I've seen you before." She glanced over her shoulder as she slowed her pace.
"I'm Cheyenne." It suddenly all clicked for Snake, remembering her.
"Oh right, so you're the famous Cheyenne that Cry never shuts up about." Cheyenne let out a laugh as she nodded. "It's good to finally meet you."
Cheyenne gave another nod. "It's nice to meet you too, I'm guessing you must be Snake? Cry mentioned you had a really deep voice." Snake gave her a nod in conformation before Cheyenne stopped at a small subdivision. "Alright, so these are all the dogs we have, I'll be checking on a few near the other end if you need me." Snake gave a dismissive nod as he turned to Scott.
"So, ready to search for your dog?" The short brunet nodded as they looked into each fenced area, Scott letting out small hums as he looked at each dog and read each little 'bio' of each. There was suddenly a high pitched bark, catching both Snake and Soctt's attention. They turned and saw Cheyenne was leading a small dog down the hall, the small thing letting out high pitched barks and yelps.
"Where're you doing with that one?" Scott asked, seemingly coming out of his shell.
Cheyenne gave a small sigh as she looked down at the dog. "She's to be put down, she's been here since she was a puppy and no one's ever kept her, claiming she was too noisy." Snake felt bad for the poor thing, saddened that her pervious owners wouldn't even try to get her some type of training.
"I want her." Snake looked over at Scott with a raised eyebrow.
"Are you-" Snake quickly stopped talking when Scott sent him a glare.
"My mom said what ever dog I want, right?" Snake gave a small nod. "I want her."
Snake held his hands up in defence. "Alright, no need to freak out." Scott rolled his eyes as he crossed his arms. Snake turned to Cheyenne, reaching for his wallet. "How much for her?"
"Nothing." Snake blinked his eyes in confusion. "She was to be out down, she's yours. Her name's Hetty, by the way."
Scott gently crouched own, gently holding his hand out to her. Hetty suddenly went quiet as she acted almost like a cat as she rubbed up against Scott. Cheyenne let out a small laugh as Snake just smiled. "So, here's the leash, I suggest getting a new one though but it should be good for now." Snake nodded before looking back at a dog he saw earlier.
"How much for the dog Sherlock over there?" Cheyenne peered over to where the dog was, giving a small smile.
"He's a hundred." Snake gave a nod.
"I'll take him then." Cheyenne gave a nod as she got another leash and retrieved the dog for Snake.
"There you go, let's head to the front and sign some papers." Snake nodded, leading Scott and the two dogs to the front desk, paying Cheyenne and filling in the adoption papers. "Alright, Hetty and Sherlock are all yours, have a great day you two!"
Snake gave a smile as he nodded. "You too, tell Cry we said 'hi'." Cheyenne gave a nod as they left, the two dogs seemingly happy about being outside.
Snake let Sherlock into the backseat, Scott picking up Hetty and getting in with her on his lap. "I'm glad they're already spayed and neutered." Scott gave a small nod as he gently pet Hetty.
"Why would they put down a dog? Who cares if she can't stay in one home, that's like killing a orphan just because they're not getting adopted." Snake got in as he looked over at Scott, watching as he gave Hetty's back a good scratch.
"I understand, Rascal --my other dog-- was in the same situation as Hetty was." Scott remained silent, though Snake noticed the faint smile on Scott's face as he took them home.

.:.

Snake set down both food dishes, watching as Hetty and Sherlock explored the living room. "Ha, Sherlock's gonna be so fucking confused when he heads home with you." Snake let out a small chuckle as he set down the water bowls, suddenly wondering how Rascal would react to Sherlock.
"I think Hetty will be more confused, seeing as her companion will be leaving." Scott just let out a small laugh as he flopped down on to the couch, Snake taking a seat beside him.
The rest of the day consisted of the two playing with the dogs, letting them get more comfortable with being out of the shelter and in an actual home. By the time midnight rolled around, Scott was asleep on the couch, Hetty laying beside him. Snake gave a small smile as he picked up Scott. "Come on, Hetty." He called soft, the small dog getting up and following Snake up to Scott's room.
Snake gently set Scott down on his bed, covering him up since had become accustomed to it. Hetty jumped up on the bed and laid at his feet, curling up as she let out a small sneeze. Snake looked back at Scott, gently moving the hair from his face like the night before. But he wanted to take a leap of faith tonight.
He gently leaned towards Scott, his heart ready to leap out of his chest as he gently kissed Scott's forehead. He gave a small smile as he pulled away, heading over to the door.
"Goodnight, Scott." He whispered, closing the door silently before heading downstairs. Sherlock glanced up and following him to his own room, his collar letting out a faint jingle. Snake changed and laid down, covering up as Sherlock jumped up an laid by Snake's side. He gently began to pet the dog as he thought of what he just did.
"It... it meant nothing, it was just a," he paused, shaking his head with a small smile, "it was just a kiss. And they mean a lot." He rolled over, falling asleep quickly with a faint smile on his face.
