THE OTHER BLACK
chapter nine
.   .   .   .

CORDELIA BLACK,
SEVENTH YEAR
.   .   .   .

𝘾ordelia had time to think things through. She could marry Rabastan but keep her last name and join the Dark Lord. It's not like it would be a surprise to anyone if she joined the Dark Lord. The purebloods will applaud her. The mudbloods will fear her. That's what she wanted, right? To be feared, for people to bow down to her, to treat her like God, to respect her like Bellatrix. From a very young age, Cordelia admired Bellatrix, she admired the way she could make people feel scared in a minute, she loved seeing that crazy glint in her eyes. But now, something changed in Cordelia. She felt different. She still wanted all those things, naturally she did, but she was questioning herself on them as well. Was it worth everything? Just to be feared? To be like Bellatrix? Who right now didn't have a husband or children or friends? True, Cordelia didn't have any friends before Snape, there was Cissy and Andy but they were family. With Snape it was different.

With Snape, everything is different. For those few hours they spend together, Cordelia actually feels like she could breathe, she felt free from the weight of being a Black, she felt like what she imagined being herself without being a Black would feel like, and Merlin, it felt good. But, she was a Black at the end of the day, there was nothing she could do to change it ━ except marry Rabastan Lestrange. But then again, she didn't love Rabastan, she loved someone else and she won't let herself suffer like that just to make her mother happy.

Easter holidays, the entire Black family were told to come home but Cordelia had different plans this year. Little did she know, she wasn't the only one who had different plans. She knew that her mother would want to talk about her marriage to Rabastan and honestly, Cordelia doesn't want to talk about it, at all. She didn't want to be bored with all the details and how she should bear her a grandchild ❨ preferbly a grandson ❩ before the age twenty, only because Druella got Bellatrix at age eighteen and them at age twenty.

The day began with Cordelia waking up with a headache, and she only rubbed her eyes in annoyance, wondering where she got the blood on her hands from before she slipped into the restroom, doing her business before washing up and making sure she got all the blood off. When she did leave the restroom, she slipped on her shoes and the clothes for the day before she slipped out, to the common room, where everyone had their bags at the ready.

"Not going home?" Snape asked, his own bag by his side and he raised a brow at Cordelia, who smiled, pulling up her bag and she showed it at Snape, who nodded.

"I'm not going home." She shrugged and she saw Severus raise a brow at her.

"But ━"

"Listen here, less annoying human blob, I'm going with you because you're sort of my friend and I just don't want to face my family right now." Cordelia huffed out, shaking her head at Snape, who could only gape at her.

"I'm only a halfblood, you do know that, right?"

Cordelia scoffed. "Of course I know that, what do I look like? One of the Malfoy idiots?"

"No, that's not what I meant." He shook his head. "It's just all so sudden, you could've told me, at least."

"Well I just did." Cordelia shrugged. "If I don't look like one of the Malfoy idiots to you, what do I look like then?" Cordelia raised a brow at the younger Slytherin, seeing him blush a little and she had to look away to mask her own blush. Ew, I can't be feeling all these gross love tingly feelings.
