Eleanor woke up, rolling over to the side of the bed that Louis usually slept on. She groaned in disappointment as she found it empty. She was used to not waking up next to him while he was on tour. He was on break for a while, though, and she had begun to become spoiled and used to waking up to his mischievous grin and bright blue eyes.

Just then, she heard a knock and the flat door open. “Ugh. What the hell are you doing here?”

“I’m staying here while my house is getting fumigated, remember, ass?”

Eleanor would know those male voices anywhere: Louis and Harry.

“Well, maybe if you stopped bringing home random sluts every night, that place wouldn’t be crawling with enough diseases to have to be fumigated,” Louis retorted.

“I have termites, not herpes!” Harry shouted back defensively.

“Oh congratulations, mate,” Louis said sarcastically, “You’re down to just chlamydia!”

Harry opened his mouth to shout a comeback, but was interrupted by Eleanor, who now stood at the entrance to the hall, her arms crossed across her chest. “Louis William Tomlinson! That is enough! Either stop being a child or leave!”

“But it’s my flat!” he protested. She simply gave him a look in response. “Fine,” he mumbled, looking down.

Harry smirked, and then made a whip sound with his mouth, causing Eleanor to turn her glare in his direction. “Harry Edward Styles,” she pronounced each of his names carefully, just as she had Louis’s name. His smirk fell. “You don’t even live here. I won’t hesitate to kick you out. Now, get inside. It’s freezing out there.”

Louis and Eleanor sat on their living room couch together, both of them on their laptops. Silence filled their flat. It wasn’t a peaceful silence, though, or even a silence that meant they were both planning their next evil scheme and were sure to have fun later.

It was just awkward. Like the silence before the storm.

Harry had left a few hours earlier to “go out and clear his head”. Everyone knew that meant he was just going to get drunk, though. And seriously, it was the middle of the afternoon. Who does that? Usually, he’d take Niall with him, and Niall, more often than not, would end up drunk-dialing Liam, who would go pick them up. Niall was with his family and Liam was with Dani’s family, though. Without them, he may do something stupid.

Well, stupider than usual. Like bring home a girl. Or worse, drive.

Eleanor began to get more and more worried about him and reached for her phone to call him right as Louis spoke. “I’m sorry about this morning, babe,” he murmured, looking up at her.

His blue eyes met her brown ones, and she could tell what he was sincere. “It’s okay, baby,” she sighed.

He bit his lip mischievously before pulling her into his lap so that she was straddling him. He pressed his lips to hers, both of them smiling into the kiss as he rested his hands on her hips and she messed up his hair like she liked it.

The front door slammed open and closed and Harry strode in, making a noise of disgust at their embrace. Eleanor crawled out of her boyfriend’s lap, sitting beside him on the couch. Harry continued to glare at both of them.

He wasn’t necessarily an angry drunk or a happy drunk. Whatever emotions he was feeling right then was just made extreme by alcohol. Since he had already been angry when he had left earlier that day, he was now completely pissed off.

Louis snarled, “Good afternoon to you, too.”

Harry turned and walked down the hall to his old room, opening the door. “Try to keep down your fornication out there!” he shouted.

“You’re just jealous!” Louis shouted back.

“Jealous?”

“Louis…,” Eleanor warned, her voice dropping off.

Louis ignored her, replying smugly, “Yeah! Jealous that I can actually keep a girlfriend for more than an hour!” They all knew that was a low blow, considering it wasn’t exactly a secret that Harry hadn’t necessarily had the most luck in that department.

“Fuck you!” Harry growled, slamming his door.

Louis laughed, obviously pleased with himself. “I think we should be extra loud tonight,” he said seriously, turning toward Eleanor.

Eleanor scoffed. “Since when did our sex life become something just to spite Harry?”

“I was just saying,” Louis said, “Why are you being such a bitch today?”

Her eyes widened. “Excuse me?” Louis opened his mouth but she continued before he could say anything. “You know what, Louis? Maybe you should go apologize to Harry! Because he’s the only one in this flat that you’re gonna get lucky with tonight!”

“Ellie-,” Louis tried to speak again, but was cut off yet again.

“Don’t you ‘Ellie’ me!” She stood from the couch and stormed down the hallway to her and Louis’s room. “Good night, Louis!” she shouted, slamming the door.

“It’s only four in the afternoon!” he shouted in reply, but if she heard him, then she acted like she didn’t. He was left on the couch alone, and his best friend and his girlfriend were left alone in their own rooms.

None of them would ever admit it, but that night, all three of them cried themselves to sleep.
