Her Story: Part 2

Stuttering, she poured her heart out.

She didn't expect a yes from him, she didn't expect any kind of reciprocation or love, she just sought acknowledgement. Acknowledgement that her feelings had gotten through to him. Bashful, as she stood there with her head bowed, she felt Naruto's eyes run all over her body. The stifling silence added to her discomfort, as she waited for a reply.

".....umm......Okay"

Her eyes jerked upwards on hearing this, as though she wanted to confirm what she had just heard. He smiled and repeated "Okay, I'll date you." As the golden rays of the setting sun, brilliantly illuminated the blondes face, she could see that his smile did not reach his eyes. Worried, she was about to talk to him that this decision need not be so hasty but he suddenly said that they should go on a date. Before she could answer, he held her hand and started leading her to Ichiraku's(obviously), almost forcefully. She thought she might as well go along with it.

--------------

They reached Ichiraku's Ramen shop and ordered two bowls of ramen. Loud and boisterous as ever, Naruto was busy chatting away with everyone around him, except her. She had started to think if this was even a date, and why had Naruto suddenly and so unexpectedly accepted her feelings - especially since he had never recognized her or her heart in the past 17 years of knowing each other - not even when she had stepped in to help him when Pain attacked. Well, that was an incident she would rather not think about now.

She was just about to talk to him, when the familiar raspy voice of his, eagerly called out to the pink haired kunoichi walking by - Sakura. Hinata was aware of Naruto's one sided feelings towards Sakura, and felt extremely awkward when the latter accepted Naruto's ridiculous invitation to join their date. However, she had no idea of the events that would occur later that evening, would leave Hinata traumatised.

----------------

Refusing to remember that night, she wiped her tears away. She went to freshen up in the washroom. As she washed her face, she could not help noticing the bags under her eyes and the obvious fatigue her face wore. She wondered why she didn't notice all these signs before. She stripped and stood in front of the mirror. Although her round face was the same, they looked unhealthy, her cheeks sunken. Her breasts were heavier now and even her arms looked fat. She could see stretch marks on her lower belly and thighs too. Appalled, she quickly took a shower and came out.

As she lay in bed waiting for sleep to come to her, her thoughts took over. She was a kunoichi for God's sake, how can she even afford to be so unhealthy and so unfit. She was so angry at herself that she let herself go like that. That was why her parents' little faith in her was also weaning away.

She had to pick herself up. No matter how hurt she was, no matter how many scars she had she was going to change herself. The only way she could move on now was by changing herself. If mentally was too difficult then she would start physical changes. Motivated, she decided to start working out from the next morning. After making a number of mental notes, she finally fell asleep.

Overwhelmed by these sudden realisations, the usually alert Hinata, failed to realise one thing. Right behind the window frame, on the window sill of her room, had collected a small pile of exotic, glittery silver dust.
