You are My Safe Place

Chapter 1

Nessa pov:

I woke up due to my alarm at 6 am. It's always the same routine get ready for the cafe, drops James off school.

James is my cute little brother. He just turned 6 years old.

After mom and dad died a few years ago in a car accident I had to take care of him.
I dropped down my college due to my financial problems. I work in a cafe called "Rose cafe". It helps my brother's school fees and pays my bills.

In beginning, it was hard to take care of everything but now I'm used to it. We don't have any family it's just me and my little brother. After mom and dad left us I had to be strong for my James.

" Ness!! We are gonna be late" I came back out of my thoughts James is just 6 but act like an adult.

I went to the bathroom take off my pajama and took a warm shower. I took a towel and wiped it around me. Went out of the bathroom to the bedroom towards my closet I took out my red top and skinny jeans. I don't have a lot of dresses or clothes few pairs of jeans and tops. I put my hair in a ponytail and wore my mom's necklace. It's just a small memory I have of hers.

I went out of my bedroom towards the kitchen to make breakfast. I saw James all ready prepared to go to school playing with his toys. I smiled at him and went to the kitchen. James has never troubled me after mom had gonna his being a good child.

I made sandwiches, a glass of milk for James, and a cup of coffee for me.

"Jimmy breakfast is ready!!" I called James for breakfast. He came running with his Teddy Tom.

Took his seat near the kitchen counter. We stay in a small apartment which is good for the two of us.

I also took my seat beside him and place his plates and glass towards him. He gives me a smile and kisses on my cheeks. I gave a peck on his forehead.

"Ness I want to come to a cafe with you". James said.
"Jimmy I can't you are gonna stay at Vinnie aunty," I said back.

Vinnie aunty is our neighbor she helped me a lot after mom gonna she took care of James when I work in a cafe. She does not have any children. She loves to take care of James like it's her son. She told me that she would pay for my college fees but I decline it I don't want to be a burden for anyone.

"Please Ness I have been good boy please after school can I come please say yes I won't trouble you and aunty Rose to please," James said making his puppy eyes he knows that affect me.

He has been a good boy I also know that he won't cause any trouble and Rose also will be happy to see James.

I sighed "ok u can come but you are gonna sit there quickly and do your homework got it??" I said.
"Yess Ness I will thank you so much I love you!!" He said in the excitement in his eye.
"I love you too Jimmy now hurry up get ready we don't have to get late," I said and finished our breakfast.

Jimmy went to his room to get his bag and I went to put the dishes in the sink.

I check the time on my phone and it's 7 am. I grabbed my purse and keys.

Jimmy came with his bag. We went out and I locked the door.

I guess I should inform Vinnie that James will be with me after school.

I went to Vinnie's door which is close to our apartment and knocked on the door.

I heard the door opening sound.

"Good Morning Nessa and good morning to you also James" Vinnie said with a smile on her face.

"Good Morning Aunty Vinnie" James and I said together.

"Vinnie today I'm taking James with me to the cafe after school he wants to meet Rose," I said to Vinnie
"Ok that's fine with me and James don't trouble your sister ok," Vinnie said to James
"Aunty don't worry I will be a good boy," James said showing his thumb up.

I laugh and said " come on good boy let's go"

We said our bye to Vinnie and went to our destination.

After few minutes of walking, I dropped James school which is near to my apartment, and cafe.   which is good I don't have to waste money on traveling.

It's early 8 am I reached the cafe. My shift is from 8 am to 7 pm.

I entered the cafe told Rose that today James will be coming over after hearing this she got so happy.
Rose also loves James.

I started my work by cleaning the table and serving the customer. Rose makes tasty cakes and pastries. Her son Tony also helps with cafes after college. He also helps with a study which I do in my free time.

"Nessa it's noon I guess you should pick up James from school," Rose said.
"Ok I will be back soon," I said.

I did not even realize that's it's already noon. At work, I forget about time.

I went to pick up James from school. When I reached, James came to run towards me.

"I'm so excited to meet aunty rose and Tony," James said with excitement.

It's being while he as meets them.

"Yes James they are also excited to meet you," I said.

James started the walk towards the cafe. I followed him back.

Suddenly I started feeling his strange feeling. It's like when you get this feeling something is gonna happen.
I sighed I guess I'm tired that's why  I'm feeling this.
