I asked first

Kai woke up, laid out across the arms of the soft pink chair. He Looked out the window and admired the city once again. He sat up, thankful he had not been moved while unconscious. Again. On the table beside him were three new tankōbon and a black coffee cup with uwu in thin white lines delicately painted on the side of it. On a similar dark wood tray which held his food last night, was a small open dark stone box with some sort of spice in it, a small metal spoon, and a small cup similar to the box but this one held cream in it. He picked up the stone box and didn't even have to hold it up to his nose.

"Cinnamon" he uttered in pain, trying to sneeze out the cinnamon he had ever so gracefully inhaled through his nose.

He picked up the cream and poured it into the black coffee. He sprinkled some of the cinnamon on top and mixed it with the small metal spoon with spirals engraved in the handle. He picked up the mug and relaxed at the smell of the hot coffee. He lifted the mug to his lips and sipped at it, the warm feeling of the coffee coating his tongue and trickling down his throat.

Kai looked up as he heard the lock on the door click. Leo walked in, greeting him with his warm smile.

"Good isn't it?"

"Mhm" Kai responded sipping on his coffee

"It's oat milk by the way," Leo said nodding to the tray "Cattle is scarce. Also, oat milk just tastes good"

"Any chance of me getting out of here anytime soon?" Kai asked with little hope of the answer he was searching for.

"Not likely" Leo responded with a sympathetic smile
"but we are still looking for your friends. We hope to find them soon"

"Who is 'we'?" Kai asked abruptly

Leo shook his head and smiled at Kai as he would a dumb child as if the answer to his question was obvious.

His patronizing smile, frustrating Kai.

Leo left the room just as quickly as he had entered.

"Wait what?" Kai said seemingly to no one but himself. "This chunk of metal just said 'tastes good'. How the fuck does that even work?" he wondered aloud.

Kai looked around the room pondering, and suddenly got excited at an idea that crept into his mind. Careful not to show his eagerness, he cautiously got up and walked over to his bed. Walking nonchalantly, he threw himself onto the bed attempting to seem as normal as possible in case Leo was watching. He sat on the bed pretending to yawn and stretch as he reached for a small loose piece of wood concealing a pocket knife located on the back of the bed frame. He found the piece of wood, but as he attempted to remove it, it fell down the wall and scattered on the floor. He sat there for what seemed like forever as the sound of it clattering across the floor seemed to amplify with the fear of being caught. After a couple of minutes, Kai, figuring that he hadn't been caught, reached once again for the small compartment on his bed. He wrapped his hand around the cold metal of the knife. Concealing it in a tight fist, he pulled it out of the compartment and put it in the pocket of his black sweatpants. He lay splayed on his bed formulating a plan, to escape maybe. Or get some answers at least.

"Getting out of this room, for one thing, that'd be a start," he thought, hopeful that he'd have a plan soon.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
His mind was churning, he needed to get out of there for his sanity and more importantly pride. He wouldn't let himself be held captive by a stack of, more than likely, overpriced metal and not do something about it.
Kai had an idea.
"It could work," He thought to himself confidently.
He took the pocket knife out of his pocket, turning the small knife in his hand, flicking the blade in and out a couple of times. He slid out from his bed, stretching his arms as he got to the floor. He turned around and grabbed the corner of one of the blankets on his unmade bed. Dragging it off and towards the corner of the room where the chair was. He dropped the blanket onto the floor as he reached the chair. He pulled the chair away from the corner of the room, turning it around to face the corner. He then took the lamp off the table, putting it on the floor, and carefully sliding it across the floor.
