The next day, Tuesday, April 29th, Diluc worked the tavern all day. He hated that he was waiting for his brother, but he continued through the day. He worked and worked, until it was time for the tavern to close. 'tch, where is he? perhaps the mission is lasting longer than he originally thought. Nevermind that, I need to clean up this mess.' Diluc was about to close off all the lights and leave the tavern when he heard a weak knock at the door. He almost waved it off as an old drunkard trying to get in, but he decided to check, just in case. He opened the door slowly and, to his surprise, there was Kaeya.
"Mind if I come in?" Kaeya asked, their fathers coat wrapped around his thin figure. Diluc eyed him, he looked strange.
"Uh... sure." Diluc said, moving to the side so that Kaeya could limp in. Kaeya sat down at one of the stools. "What do you want." Diluc asked, waving over to the alcohol he had stored behind him.
"Did you ever wish it was me?" Kaeya trembled.
"What?" Diluc observed Kaeya. He was shivering, his fathers coat wrapped tightly around him. His hair was down, it was the first time Diluc had seen him like that since they were kids. He was also strangely pale, and now that Diluc thought about it, why was he so thin? Where was his eyepatch? "Kaeya, what are you talking about? Where's your eyepatch?"
"Do you ever wish it was me that day? Instead of dad?" Kaeya was shaking now, and Diluc realized he was crying.
"W-what? Kaeya, whats going on?" Diluc was taken aback.
"Fuck... I wish he was still here, Diluc. Things would be so much different."
"Kaeya, are you drunk already? If you don't want anything, you should go home." Kaeya looked up at Diluc, the whites of his eyes bloodshot from crying, and his face streaked with tears.
"I don't belong here, Diluc. I never have. Tell the knights I love them for me, okay?"
"Kaeya, what-" Kaeya stood up and hobbled out the door. 'somethings not right...' Diluc chased after him.
Locking the tavern door behind him, Diluc looked around the front of the tavern. 'where did he go?' Looking through the dark, he saw a figure huddled on the ground. He rushed over and saw Kaeya, weak and shaking. He lifted Kaeya off of the cobble road and flipped him over so he was laying on his back. His fathers coat fell away from Kaeyas body to reveal a gaping stab wound in the center of his stomach that was actively bleeding. 'dear god... how long was he hiding this from me?'
"Kaeya! What happened to you?" Diluc shouted, panicked. "W-we need to get you to Barbara, she can still save you, please..."
"I'm sorry brother... I just... I wanted to see you. I... I'm sorry."
"No... No, no, no, no! Not again! Brother, please, you're the only family I have left..." Diluc let out a sob.
"I'll tell dad you said hi, no?"
"Kaeya no, you have to stay here you have to-" the large clock that sat atop the church began to ring. One, two, twelve times. It was April 30th.
"I'm sorry, brother. Happy birthday. I love you." The light slowly faded from Kaeyas eyes.
"No... Kaeya! Wake up! Please..." Diluc sobbed over his brothers body.

Yet another family member dead on Dilucs birthday.

He scooped up his brothers limp body and ran to the church as fast as his legs would take him. He banged on the doors of the church with all of his might, screaming and crying, until eventually, Barbara came to the door.
"*yawn* Master Diluc? What could you possibly need at this hour-" Barbara was saying as Diluc shoved past her in to the church. He layed down his brother gently on to the floor of the church.
"Please, Barbara, fix him! Y-you can fix him, right? You always fix him..."
"Master Diluc... He's long gone. There's nothing I can do, I apologize."
"NO! NO NO NO! PLEASE" Diluc fell to the floor, sobbing.
"What's going on-" Rosaria bursted in, halting when she saw Diluc. "What in the - *gasp* Kaeya?!" Barbara shook her head and Rosarias eyes watered up. "I- I'll go get Jean." Diluc continued to sob.
