It was 7 in the morning when a cool breeze slipped through the open window of Harry's room, gently brushing across his face. It had been a few months since he graduated high school and yet he was still stuck in that strange in between no university yet, no clear direction, just applications and waiting.
That changes after his parent's sudden decision of sending him all the way to Sydney.
A soft knock broke the silence. Harry's eyes snapped open. He rubbed them lazily, reached for his glasses, and kicked off his blanket before dragging himself to the door.
When he opened it, a young woman in her early thirties stood there. It was one of the housemaids, Adrienna. She may be their housemaid but Harry have never see her as one and as a matter of fact, he sees her as family. She was the closest person to Harry in the household. Out of everyone, she was the one he actually trusted without hesitation.
"Bonjour, Master Harry. Breakfast is ready and both your parents are waiting for you downstairs," Adrienna said warmly.
"Bonjour, Madame Adrienna. Thank you for waking me up and you are welcome to join us for breakfast," Harry replied with a small smile.
"Non, je ne peux pas. I'm just a maid, I shouldn't be eating breakfast with the Master. Also, please do not call me Madame. Just Adrienna," she responded, stepping aside so he could pass.
Harry huffed lightly. "Hey, don't say that. We're basically family. Come on, just eat with us, Madame."
"Euh, maybe next time, Maître Harry," she said with a soft smile.
Harry sighed in playful defeat and headed downstairs.
At the dining table, his parents and his uncle were already seated in their usual spots. Harry slid into the chair next to Sirius. "Good morning, boy. How are you this lovely morning?" Sirius greeted.
"Alright, I guess," Harry replied, reaching for a toast.
"Cheer up, Harry. Today is the day you're going to Sydney, you should be excited," James said.
"I would be excited if someone bothered to tell me I was moving across the world in the first place," Harry replied dryly.
"Hey, stop complaining, Har-bear. You know we're doing this for your future, right?" Lily said, smiling softly.
He sighed. "Yeah..."
"Then cheer up," Sirius added. "I have prepared two story apartment for you Harry which include an indoor pool considering your love for swimming. It's a 10 minute drive to your institution and I believe that's manageable. Do let me know if you'd like to experience a uni dorm life instead, okay?" mentioned James while cutting into his steak.
"Apartment sounds good. And... can I get a car? Any car is fine as long as I can use it. It would be nice given that I won't have a chauffeur anymore," Harry said, his mood slightly lifting.
"Bien sûr! I'll get one ready as soon as you arrive in Sydney, one from our own dealership dear." James replied.
They continued eating, the conversation easing into lighter topics.
Time skip — Airport
"Bye-bye, my beloved godson," Sirius said dramatically, wiping fake tears. "Sirius, don't cry. You can visit me anytime. It's not like you don't have a private jet," Harry said, laughing.
"Yeah right, Padfoot. Stop crying, I'm not even crying," James said, very obviously crying. "Hazz, take care. And remember I love you. Call us every day," Lily said, hugging him tightly.
"I will. I love you too," Harry replied.
Before he could finish his sentences properly, two voices cut through the moment.
