Chapter 5: Promise

I sat down in a booth at Dave's coffee shop and waited for Cam, he's already late and of course he promised he wouldn't be, but he is. I waited and waited and waited,

Finally he showed up! I sat in the booth picking at my nails, just so it looked like i wasn't paying attention to Cam,

"Hey" he said sitting across from me
I didn't reply,
"Listen I'm sorry I'm late, my dad and mom were fighting again, i had to deal with that first, i text you that i was going to be late, did you look?" He asked
"No, i don't have my phone on during work" i said
"You work here?" He asked pointing at the table
"No i work over there" i said pointing at the cash register
"Don't be a smart ass" he said with a small smile but you could see the frown in his smile.
"I am a smart ass. What did you want to tell me?" I asked
"Everything. That i haven't told you, i am truly sorry about what i said, you know what i say when i panic. Im sorry your the best girlfriend i could ever ask for, its just you were making me so mad that i had to find a way to make you know what it felt like, so i panicked and said the first thing that came to mind. I'm sorry, Alexia" he said staring at me
"So you expect me to just be all fine and pretend this didn't happen?" i asked him
"No, but if we can forget about this, then maybe that would be best" he said
"So you tried to get back at me by yelling at me" i said
"Yes, and i know that that wasn't right of me, please Alexia, think about it" he said grabbing my hand that was on the table. I missed him, i truly did, his comforting arms around me when I'm sad, his hand connected with mine.
"Im sorry too" thats all i said
"So what does this mean?" He asked "are we cool"
"Ya we're cool" I said
"Yes! Come here" he said and i moved across the table to him, he wrapped his arms around me and i set my head on his chest, finally i have my guy back. And he has his girl back.
"I promise i will never let you go again" he whispered to me
"A promise is a strong word, it either makes something or ruins everything" i said looking up at him
He laughed "your right about that"

Somehow I forgave him, it feels so great to have him back but something is up, i can feel it, when i look at him he won't look in my eyes, he doesn't smile as bright as he used to. I think it may have something to do with his Mom and Dad, they've been fighting for a few months now and whenever they did fight Cam would come crash at my place. Of course without my grandparents knowing.....i was a sneaky child.

"Cam?" I asked him when we stopped on the sidewalk so he could tie his shoe
"Ya?" He asked standing back up, i looked into his eyes and as expected he looked away,
"Whats wrong?" I asked
"Nothing" he said looking farther away from me
"Cam...." I said
"Nothing, i said there is nothing wrong" he said again
"Cam yes there is, what aren't you telling me, you don't look into my eyes anymore, you look away, and you don't smile bright anymore" i said
"Fine but i don't want to talk about it" he said
"Cam please?" I asked
"Its my family" he said
"Ya what about it?" I asked
"Mom and Dad" he replied and shut his mouth tightly
"Cam" i said "tell me"
"No" he said
"Sorry what?" I asked
"No" he said
"Sorry not the right answer, what?" I asked again
"Fine, my parents got in a huge fight and my 15 year old brother they are kicking out because they found out that he was smoking weed, he got in shit and they said that he's leaving in a week or so and then they got in a fight and my dad is moving out and my mom is keeping me, Alexia my parents are getting divorced" he spilled chewing on his bottom lip, he does that when he's holding back tears.
"Cam, you'll still see your dad and your brother, he's not going away forever" i said
"But what if i never see him again, what if i don't!" He said on the verge of tears looking me in the eyes now,
"Cam whatever happens, happens ok. And whatever happens, I'm here, don't hide from me" i said and took a step towards him, wrapping my arms around him. His body was warm and felt nice against my cold cheeks. He leaned into me accepting the hug and i smiled holding him tighter. He took the tinniest step back and lifted up my chin looking into my eyes,
He smiled,
Making me blush
"Damn, when you blush it makes you even more beautiful then you already are" he whispered
"Stop it" i said
"Why can't i tell my girlfriend how beautiful she is?" He asked me
"Because my cheeks can't possibly get any redder" i smiled
He traced his finger across my shoulder and i shivered under his touch,
He stepped closer to me so our bodies were touching,
He leaned in so our foreheads were touching, this is killing me!
"I love you" he said
"I love you too" i replied
He placed his lips gently on mine and held me tightly,
Our first kiss,
Our lips move together in sync and our hands together......

I woke up and yawned, i smiled feeling Cam's arm draped over my waist, what if i wake up one day and all of this is a crazy dream? What if Cam never asked me out, what if he never told me he loved me, what if he never kissed me, what if......we were still just friends?

I wiggled out of Cam's grip and went to the bathroom to change into different clothes. When i came out of the bathroom i saw cam sitting up on my bed now, texting. He looked up at me and smiled,
"Hey beautiful" he said
"Hey" i replied not knowing what else to say
"How did you sleep?" He asked
"Fine, what about you?" I asked brushing my hair
"Great, with you here" he replied and grabbed my wrist pulling my onto the bed with him. We lay there for a while hand in hand, side by side, just lying there in silence. Until he said,
"So whats the plan for today?"
"I don't care" i replied turning my head to look at him
He looked at me "then come on!" He said and pulled me up to my feet, good thing I was already dressed and stuff like that. He pulled me to the elevator, out of the elevator, and into his car. Where the hell are we going?

"Cam? Where are we going?" I asked
"I may have left early in the morning to set up something in the woods, and then returned and fell asleep beside you" he smiled
"Seriously?" I asked
"Seriously" he replied
I'm not mad at him for sneaking out, if i was mad he would of found out by now, there are butterflies in my stomach, good butterflies, i hope.

We stopped on a curb parking space and Cam opened my door for me and offered his hand, i gladly took his hand and he helped me out of the car, i can see us in 60 years when I'm old and fragile helping me out of a car. Knowing Cam he couldn't help me out of the car without doing something after, he then grabbed my wrist and started running pulling me behind him, i was ducking under tree branches and he was laughing at me. I ran into a bush and fell over it bringing Cam down with me, he fell on top of me and he looked into my eyes with a,
'Im going to kill you' look and he leaned in and kissed me before pulling me back up to my feet.

When we finally arrived in the clearing, Cam uncovered my eyes and i looked at the clearing,
A checkered blanket lay with a basket in the top right hand corner, a stream that was right at the edge of the blanket, a bucket of ice with pops in it and a little wrapped box. I looked at Cam who was blushing and had his one hand on his left arm, he looked so damn cute. I walked over and gave him a quick kiss, before he led me over to the clearing.

We sat down on the blanket and i just wanted to pause that moment, live that moment forever, it was perfect. I don't think i can ever let Cam go again.

I squeezed the water out if my hair,
"I hate you!" I yelled laughing
"What did i do?" He asked jokingly
"Pushed me in the stream!" I yelled laughing
"Ok ok sorry" he smiled wrapping his arms around me. Heres what happened, we were sitting by the stream with our feet in and he decided to go right ahead and push me into the stream, i was so mad! But not actually mad mad, just joking mad. He took off his shirt and put it over my wet t-shirt. He gestured to the blanket and we sat back down. I laid down and rested my head on his leg, he put his hand on my side and rubbed my side with his thumb, another moment i wanted to pause.
"I have something for you" he said
I sat up and turned to him, he was holding up a chain that had a crescent moon with a diamond star on the end,
"Its so pretty" i said
"Turn around" he said and i did as told, he put the chain on my neck and did it up at the back,
"I have something for you too" i replied
"Ok" he said raising his eyebrows
"Its a kiss, close your eyes" i said and he did. I unzipped my purse and grabbed my phone and another object, i had to video tape this,
I leaned in close and just as i was about to give him a kiss, i put a chocolate kiss in his hand and he opened his eyes and laughed,
"Ok but wheres my real kiss?" He pouted
I was still recording and i flipped the camera on us and leaned in and kissed him, not for long, but not quick, just the right amount of time.

Later that night Cam messaged me this,

Think your Grandparents would be mad if i took your virginity?😏

I don't live with them anymore so....... No

I'll be right over😉

See you soon😏

I looked at the clock, 9:45, cam was coming over, I'll pretend to be asleep, he has a key to this apartment.

-----5 minutes later------
Cam laid down beside me and i rolled over to face him, his lips colliding with mine,
And well, you know what happens next.
