I have become wonderful friends with Liam over the last three months as have Tyler, Travis, Harry, and the rest of their hockey team. I met with aunt Harper's client, Mr. Logan Moore, who is the owner of an art gallery about thirty minutes away. I am having my first showing at his gallery, 'The Jewel', from January 15th through the 22nd with five other new artists.
Today, I'm mailing out the Ancestry DNA kit on the way to school - Harry is going to stop at the post office for me.
"Hey, we need to leave if we're going to stop at the post office before school," Harry says stepping into the bedroom as I'm grabbing my stuff for the day.
"Okay," I sigh while grabbing the box off the desk to slip it into my backpack so Harley doesn't see it, and freak out; once I've mailed the box, we head to school which is about a minute from the post office.
"What are you going to do if this finds your dad?" Harry asks as we walk inside the school.
Shrugging my shoulders at him as I say; "Meet him if he wants, and then we'll go from there, I guess."
Harry hums in response as we find our friends at our lockers, and we greet each other as we exchange our bags for our stuff for our first class.
"Did you mail out the kit?" Travis asks, gaining our friends attentions, but Harry's.
"Yeah, Harry stopped at the post office on the way here, so I could," I answer him with a nod of my head.
"When will you get the results?" Liam asks as we head toward our first hour.
"In two weeks I will recieve an email with the results, so around my birthday," I answer with a nervous smile.
"I'm sure everything will be fine, and your dad, and his family will love you, and you them," Liamm assures with a toothy grin.
Humming in response as I'm not sure how I feel about all of this. I've gone almost 18 years without knowing him, but I also want to know where I come from on his side. Even if they don't want anything to do with me, then that is their choice, but I would love to have the knowledge of knowing who they are at least.
2 weeks later -
My phone dings with a notification of a new email, and I've been in the living room with Harry, his three friends, Liam, Travis, and Tyler. We have been watching movies together while aunt Harper, Hannah, and Harley are out buying supplies for school projects my two cousins have to do over Christmas break.
Opening the email app, I find an email from the company with the Ancestry DNA results, and I click on the email, and quietly read it to myself:
'Great Britian - Southern England - 40%
Scandinvia - 25%
Ireland/Scotland/Wales - 24%
Europe West - 11%
Possible familia matches found - 7'
"Ethan, are you alright?" Travis worridly asks from my right side on the couch next to me.
"Yeah, I just got the results from the DNA test," I softly reply before reading aloud the email to everyone as my phone dings with another email notification.
Clicking back out of the email I'm on, I find an email from a sender I don't recognize, so I click on it and let out a shaky breath as I read it it to myself before telling the guys; "I Just got an email from a guy named Kent, who says we might be related. He was alerted that we are blood related."
Getting up from the couch, I walk into the kitchen where I lean against the counter by the since as I think of how to answer this Kent person. Composing a new email to him, I type out; 'Hi Kent. Um, I have no idea how to answer you, or what we should do, other than suggest meeting a public place to talk. More than likely my aunt will be coming with me, and I suggest you bring someone with you, too, for safety reasons. How about we meet at 'Russo's Cafe on Main Street and Third in Harrisberg, tomorrow at noon?"
Clicking the send button, I gnaw on my lip as I feel like I am going to vomit as Harry enters the room with a worried expression on his face. He stops in front of me, saying; "Did you answer this Kenty guy yet?"
"Yeah," I nodas I show him my reply to Kent.
"Mom will definitly want to go with you when you meet with Kent, and whoever he brings with him," Harry replies as his mum and siblings enter the house with arm loads of supplies.
I explain everything to them as my phone dings again - it's an email from Kent which I read aloud; "My dad and I will meet you at Russo's at noon tomorrow. Hopefully we can figure out how we are related to each other then."
"Great! My aunt and I will see you both then!" I send back with a shaking hand.
"We are on for tomorr, and he is brinnging his dad with him, so I am thinking he is young, too," I tell them with a shaky voice.
"Well, we will find out tomorrow for sure if you two really are related, and hopefully how," aunt Harper gently replies as she pulls me into a tight hug, which I willing return.
"I know, and I appreciate everything you have done, and are doing for me," I murmur into her shoulder as I tighten my grip on her, and she tightens her arms around my waist.
I need this tight hug right now as I feel like I could break apart at any moment from all the emotons running through me. I can only hope they show, that everything works out well, and that we can all walk away with answers to questions that we have when we are done meeting them tomorrow.
