Beca:

"No, no, no... that doesn't sound good." I mumbled to myself while deleting a few lines I had just written. I was sitting at my desk in the office, working on my wedding vows. When I still hadn't written anything acceptable 30 minutes later, I decided I needed a break. I trotted from my office to my studio, playing around with some beats when it hit me. I quickly grabbed my songbook and a pen and started writing. This wouldn't be the classic vows, but I didn't care. I knew Chloe would love it. I smiled to myself once I had finished writing the lyrics down.

"There you are." Chloe said when I entered the living room again. She was playing with Ava on the floor. Ava had gotten so big. She was 8 months old now and already had two little teeth and her hair had grown quite a bit. Time flew by with our hectic lives. We were always on the go. Concerts, interviews, charity... We had taken a week off from everything and today was the second day we were just enjoying at home, doing nothing. I sat down on the floor on the opposite side of the blanket Ava was playing on. After a while I zoned out, just looking at Chloe and Ava playing.

"Oh my God, Becs! Look!" Chloe exclaimed and I was pulled back into reality. I looked at Chloe, who was pointing to Ava. She had propped herself up on all four and was crawling a few inches before collapsing on the floor again. She looked at Chloe giggling. Chloe was staring at Ava, smiling from ear to ear. She picked her up and sat her down in her lap.

"Look at you, my big girl. Already crawling." Chloe tickled her gently and Ava started laughing. I pressed my lips against each other to hide the huge grin that wanted to creep up on my face and the little squeal trying to escape my mouth. I got up and sat down next to Chloe and Ava. I kissed Chloe's cheek, still smiling like an idiot.

"I love you." I whispered in her ear. She turned her head to look at me and smiled.

"I love you too." She breathed out before kissing me. Once we had parted, she gently brushed a strand of my hair behind my ear, letting her hand rest on my cheek for a bit.

"Where are you going?" Chloe wanted to know, when I got up, walking towards the stairs.

"I have a surprise for you." I said while continuing to walk upstairs. It took me a few minutes to find what I was searching for. I was in our office, going through a drawer of my desk. When I finally found the envelope, I smiled and went back downstairs. I hid the envelope behind my back while entering the living room. Chloe had put Ava down on her blanket, watching her play.

"Hey, Chlo-bear? Can you come over here for a second?" I asked once I had sat down on the sofa.

"Sure." She got up and sat down on the sofa, cross-legged next to me.

I handed her the envelope and she looked at me confused. She had no idea what was happening.

"Becs, what is this?"

"Open it."

She opened the envelope and looked at the first page of a stack of papers.

"What does the state of New York want from us?" She questioned with wide eyes.

"Read it." I demanded and smiled at her.

"State of New York... blah... blah.. blah... as requested, we send you the papers for adoption..." She looked up with even wider eyes, her mouth agape.

"Are you serious?" Tears were glistening in her eyes.

"I was never more serious about anything." I stared into her blue orbs I couldn't get enough of. A huge smile appeared on Chloe's face. She put the stack of papers down on the coffee table and hugged me so tightly that I struggled to breathe.
