Tadashi x Artist!Reader
Why, why, why does your best friend have to major in science? It's all he ever talks about, and you just couldn't understand it. It was like being lectured by a teacher all over again. You groaned slamming your face down into the science text book you were reading. Groaning in frustration you slammed the book shut.
"I'm an art major, why am I doing this to myself?" slumping you shoulders, you walked out of your bedroom.
With one last sigh, you grabbed your sketch book from the kitchen counter. You might as well sketch before your brain explodes from strain. You doodled, and before you knew it, you had sketched a picture of your best friend (crush), Tadashi Hamada. He was leaning on the counter of the Lucky Cat Café, an easy smile on his face, as he stirred his coffee. You grinned sadly, running your fingers across the picture, being careful not to smudge anything.
"Hamada you idiot," you chuckled.
Suddenly you heard a knock at your door. Panicking, you threw you sketch book behind a blanket. You opened the door slowly, a sheepish smile on your face.
"Hey, Tadashi," you awkwardly stood in the door way, your arms trying (and failing) to find a way for you to look natural.
He only laughed, and you almost melted into a puddle right there.
"So, (y/n), you weren't at the café this morning. I got worried, are you alright?" Tadashi asked. You looked away from.
"Sorry, I forgot to tell you I had to meet with the professor early today," lie.
"I missed walking you to school today. You could have told me and I would have gotten up earlier," ouch, your heart broke.
"Sorry, heh," to be honest, you didn't want to walk with him. You were scared that you would break inside. After all you were 99.99999999% sure that he liked Honey Lemon. You slid away from the door, allowing him inside. Being unfriendly wouldn't have gotten you anywhere. An awkward silence filled the room.
"Tadashi do you know any Japanese?" you asked, breaking the silence.
"Yup, I still have family that lives there so I learned a bit of the language," he replied, sitting on your couch.
"That's cool, could you teach me something?"
"Sure, let's start with something easy, konnichiwa," he pronounced each syllable carefully so you could mimic him.
This carried on for a good while, until you just gave up. You were starting to get hungry anyway. After grabbing your snack, you saw Tadashi flipping through your sketchbook. Dread filled you, as you leaped on top of him to get it away from him.
"DON'T LOOK!" you screeched, having back in your possession. You looked and saw he had already flipped to the next clean page.
Tadashi had a small blush on his cheeks, and his mouth was stretched in a dorky grin. You didn't see that though; you were too busy choking back tears.
"(Y/n)? What's wrong?" he grabbed you hand carefully.
"You weren't suppose to see that," you whispered softly.
Tadashi gripped your hand tighter, and pushed you against his chest. He whispered into your ear:
"Boku wa, anata ga shitte iru ijō no koto o aishiteimasu. Boku wa anata o miru to anata wa boku no kokoro doki doki o tsukuru. Anata wa, boku ga shitte iru kawaī hitodashi, boku wa anata o aishi, sono geijutsu wa anata ga tsukuru."
You gave him a questioning look. You watched anime, but all that made no sense to you.
"Tadashi, you know I don't know what your saying," you grumbled against his chest.
"Long story short, it means I love you."
"I love you too, nerd."
"Way to ruin the moment."
You only giggled, and hugged him tighter.
A/N: I USED GOOGLE TRANSLATE I KNOW I'M A DISGRACE! I suck at Japanese (trying to learn it, failing), but I know that men don't say "watashi", so I changed that. Anyway, if anyone speaks Japanese, and I'm waaaay off, tell me and I'll change it. It (supposedly) means: "I love you more than you know. You make my heart pound when I see you. you're the cutest person I know, and I love you, and that art you make."
