ziggy

there are people, so many people. and im falling, falling hard.

"ziggy, did you hear what i just said?" says the substitute teacher that no one really pays attention to.

and, being the honest person i am, i replied with a no. cassie sent me a sideways glance and her signature grin and i ignored it.

"leah? could you tell ziggy what i just said?" said the substitute harshly, looking to a stick thin girl with medium length mousse blonde hair and misty green eyes.

"well, to be honest, miss.. none of us were listening" she stated matter of factly, making the whole class erupt in giggles.

the rest of the words were drowned out as i stared out of the window, rain pattering on the glass. i put my palm against the window, watching the raindrops race each other to the bottom of the window. a familiar figure walked past in the distance and my lip started to tremble again.

"miss, i feel sick."
"cassie, cant you wait?"
"im sure you dont want me to puke on your lovely carpet, do you?"
"youre right, go"
"can ziggy take me?"
"whatever"

someone grabs my hand and drags me from my chair, i look to see who it is and it is the one and only, cassandra hood.

"let's go, zigster, im ill"
she did her classic cassie wink.

i hesitated for a second, cringing at her horrible nickname for me. i tried to protest, but it was useless. cassandra always got her own way.
