This is embarrassing....who woulda known that I'd jinxed my next installment by trying to predict it...... I was so sure that I'd finish this chapter last week....

I'll try to crank out a few more chapters this week for sure. But I'm not gonna give you guys a set time.

In any case, I hope you enjoy the chapter and I'll see you guys later!

Dragx's head lulled from side to side as the vehicle shook while traveling over uneven road. He held his healing arm to his body, trying to keep it from shaking too much. The pain was almost nonexistent and the horrible, blackened vein patterns were all gone.

Lazily, he turned his head and looked through the open window of the carriage, watching the countless flowers, littering flat countryside fields. If he tried, he'd barely be able to see the gargantuan, looming trees of the Dark Forest behind them.

Sweat rolled off his face, slid down his cheeks and plunged down his throat, seeping into his clothes. It was midsummer and the heat was almost unbearable! Despite opening up the windows of the carriage, the air flowing inside was scalding.

His violet eyes turned to the other passengers inside the carriage. The space wasn't quite as packed anymore. There was much more room to move around now, and judging from the speed at which the carriage was moving, it seemed as if they were lighter too.

This was all because they had lost almost half of the previous travelers! All of their lives claimed by the hazards of the forest! It had been 2 weeks since they had left the Magical forest. But everyone here would never forget the horrors they had faced inside that place.

A clatter of metal resounded from Dragx's pocket as he removed a small, bronze pocket Watch. The constant ticking sounds that betrayed the inner clockwork of gears were drowned out by the various sounds inside the carriage. Its owner had died, leaving the small machine in Dragx's possession, hereby making him its new owner.

He flicked up the protective covering and looked at the watch's face, taking note of its wobbling hands. As he clutched it in his right hand, small air ripples started to appear around the small machine as Arcane energy seeped from his palm. The distortions shrunk, until they only covered the little body of the clock and was absorbed by it.

After a moment, the distortions leaked from the watch and re-entered Dragx's hand.

He closed eyes as an gentle stream of information poured into his consciousness, by some miraculous means. The first thing Dragx 'felt' was the smooth, circular metal and glass casing of the watch.

Then he somehow was able to 'see' with great detail, all the intricate workings of the small machine! Invoking a sense of awe within him.

Inside the watch were: wheels, pinions, springs and tiny rods. All working in tandem to measure the passing time. Over the past 2 weeks although he was fearful, Dragx had tentatively stared to use his magic.

At first he had swore to never invoke the power of Arcane until he had a teacher. But he just couldn't hold out, he was like a stubborn child who was obsessed with fire despite repeated getting burned.

But this time, he decided to only use his powers on a small scale and with extreme caution.

And it was this very watch that he had been using his magic on. Over time he had managed to not only gain more control and understand his Magic, he learned much about the mechanical workings of the watch without opening its casing. What he had learned marveled him!
