James's POV

I sat on my trunk, with my non-official brother Sirius Black holding his cart handles so tight his knuckles were white. Then he clamped his eyes shut and charged into the brick wall leading to the Hogwarts express.

And now it was my turn. I stood up, flexed my chaser muscles, and grabbed a hold of my cart and trunk. Into the wall. It wast long before I felt a woosh of air and I knew I was standing next to my friend again.
"Compartment three?" He asked.
"As always," I chuckled. Putting our items away on the shelves about the seats, I looked out the window and saw her. Perfect redhaired Lily Evans.
I've liked her since first year but she has absolutely no interest in me, clearly. Remus, Moony, patroled the halls with her last year and he said that she thinks I'm
'Over the top full of myself, a prat, a bully, and endlessly awkward yet smooth' and I want to end that.
She was all alone on the platform, but was smiling brightly. I saw another red haired girl rush up and hug her.
It was Molly Prewett no doubt. The girl wasn't tall, or skinny, but she was nice, that was for sure. An absolutely perfect motherly figure. She was always comforting the first years and knitting them things. If Lily wasn't Gryfindor prefect I would say Molly came after her in a measure of who would be best.

"Hello? James! Get yourself out of Lily-Land, you've been staring out the window so long you missed Peter coming in," Sirius laughed. I flushed red and turned to find my friend Peter eating a few chocolate frogs.
"I wasn't in Lily-Land-" I started but I was cut off when Remus came into the compartment, smiling and pale.
"Lily-Land?" He asked, taking one look at my red face. Sirius roared with laughter and Peter kind of shrunk in his seat. Remus smirked and set his things down.

Now Lily was talking to two people, Molly and a girl with extremely blonde hair, Mary Lovegood. It wasn't long before Alice Abott showed up and they boarded the train together. I was so glad that she wasn't as close to Snivilius as she was the last few years, it was good she was now friends with a few Gryfindors.

"GET OUTTA LILY-LAND!" Sirius yelled. I frowned at him.
"Shove off, mate. I haven't seen her since spring," I said, putting my hand in my hands.
"Cheer up, James. If you mature, she'll come around as a friend!" Remus smiled at me. I turned and looked out the windows. None of my friends understood me in this way. Sirius had numerous girlfriends over the years, mainly just for snogging, he didn't actually LOVE someone like I did. Remus never showed any real interest in girls, it was a one week crush tops. And Peter was the worst, he had ten crushes at once, and he just wanted to see what it's like to snog. I think he's faking them, seeing that he doesn't even know their names.

I saw Lily and her friends coming down the hall and my hands started sweating.
"I guess we have to sit with you guys," Mary sighed. The girls climbed and attempted to make themselves comfortable in the small amount of space left.
"Hi, Lily," I said quietly. I grinned at her and she returned the smile with an extra roll of the eyes and purse of lips.
"Hello, Potter," she said in a dull voice.
"Hey Sirius," Mary said happily. They were prank buddies.
"Hello! Remus! I've missed you so much," Lily hugged him. Moony shot me a sympathetic glance as she went back to her seat.
"Lily will you go out with me?" I asked her. Remus shook his head, I know. I should be friends with her first.
"James! I've already told you! No!" She said angrily.
"Stop pranking me," Lily said. I felt my throat swell and my eyes start to water.
"I'll he right back a croaked into Sirius's ear. He would know what to say to the group. I kept going down the hall, hoping no one could see the tears that were threatening to fall. I need to get to the rest room where I could cry by myself. No such luck.
"Oh, it's the prideful James Potter, what's got you crying like a baby?" Lucius Malfoy sneered. Snivilius was behind him, smirking.
"Probably that Mudblood rejected
him - again!" Another boy I didn't know laughed. Snapes smirk fell. What's wrong with him anyway.
"Don't-call-he-her-that," I coughed out.
"Lily Evans is a filthy little Mudblood and she hates you, heck, she like Severus more than you," Lucius's laugh rang through the hall. A few kids were popping out of the compartments now. I pushed past them and shut the door in a compartment I haven't been in before. It only had two people in it.
Arthur Weasley and Frank Longbottom. They jumped up as i slammed the door and sat down on a sofa to calm myself down.
"James! You all right, mate?" Frank asked me. I nodded. I hated people seeing me cry, I was the strong James Potter. But I knew if I asked these two not to tell, they wouldn't.
"You don't look ok? Was it the slytherins?" Arthur asked me.
I was about to nod my head but then shook it instead.
"Oh it's Lily and the Slytherins. I asked her out, she rejected me, then the slytherins made fun of me and called her a-" I couldn't even bing myself to say it. They nodded, knowing what I meant by stopping.
"It's alright James. Calm yourself down then go back to your friends. We won't tell," Frank smiled.
"Thanks, guys. I know I could count on you," I smiled weakly.

It took about ten minutes, but I looked respectable again, handsome and presentable. I headed back to my compartment. They were all jabbering about something and I tried listening.
"I don't know where James went! I don't understand! Isn't this a joke?" Lily whispered. Remus shook his head again. So did Padfood and Peter.
"No! He fancies you, Lily. Get that through your head!" Molly snapped.
"Oh Molly!" Lily said, I could tell she was blushing. I smirked an came back in. Lily rolled her eyes and turned away from me, angrily.

Ouch.

Well, I might as well get changed. Lily hates me.
