SANEM
Today is a very special day of my life for the felicitation event arranged at our college which will be followed by a little sad aspect that is: it is going to be our last day in Istanbul.
Still, I am happy for we are finally going to stay with our parents, like before in our countryside ancestral home that we left for acquiring a better education in the metropolitan. My father, Mr Nihat Aydin, always wished his children to focus on their studies for this reason he never wanted us to work for our expenses. When we first came here papa used to send us money and we had no choice but not to refuse him. Eventually, things became more serious and we found the amount we received from the post was not enough to carry on the expenditures required for adopting the inflation around.
Leila first brought me the idea and later I joined her as I trusted her with all that I had. She is one year elder than me still we have always read in the same grade since the start for she used to suffer from dyslexia at a very young age. But later, with the aid of proper care and love and encouragement, she got rid of that complexity. I helped her as much as it was possible and she improved her difficulties with growing time. In this way, the bondage between us was built quite strong and the confidence we lay in each other is even rather very powerful. For this reason, when she brought one day, four years back, a piece of paper to show me the advertisement for an urgent requirement of some waitresses in some nightclub I grabbed the opportunity at once without any hesitation. Little did we know it was a strip club where we both got selected after a few weeks of waiting and worked there till last night. Last quirky night would be better to call it. Funny it was to meet such a personality like him though I have no wish to recall it only to ruin this special day of ours.
Getting down from the bed I walk to the washroom while the smell of pasta has already filled our little apartment. Leila is a great cook, I must add.
Washing my hair I scrub my skin and when I step out of the bathroom wrapping a towel around my body, I watch my sister arranging the plate on the tiny round table.
"Morning, Leilosh!" Yes, I do call her with this cute nickname and she loves my greetings as always.
"Morning, Sanem!" She is freshly prepared for the occasion as she comes forward to kiss my cheek and I watch what a beautiful knee-length green frock she has worn.
"You're looking pretty, Lei!" I praise her look raising my brows in affirmation. She responds to me with a smile as she says, "Thank you, hon. But I haven't forgotten you too. Because..." She pauses a bit to walk over to the cupboard and opens up the lids only to take out a gorgeous blue halter neck dress which, I think, is just a bit short compared to hers. "Here it is. Look. Isn't it pretty?"
'Yes, it is!" I say coming closer to her and stretching my hand to feel the delicate material. "Lei, it's superb. But...how...how did you manage?" I can not help asking her promptly.
Rubbing my cheeks very affectionately she explains, "It's your graduation gift, sis. So, there is no need to bring any 'but'. Still, for your peace of mind let me inform you that someone made it easy for me to buy you this lovely collection."
"Who?" I feel incredibly curious to know about that particular kind man in this cruel city.
"Umm..." She twists her lips before she continues dreamily, "Actually, I met someone yesternight at the club."
"Who?" I crinkle my forehead in impatience. Because it can not be a coincidence that two of the sisters are meant to come across 'someone ' on the same night and same venue.
"Hmmm..." I can't believe Leila is blushing and hugging the fabric in her hand in such a manner when she proceeds next, "Yesterday when you went for cleaning the tables, I was taking the orders and like every other day the counter was jostled with flirts and flings when I met him." This time she bites her lips while I notice a sharp pink hue covering both of her cheeks. "Oh, Sanem! What should I say to make you understand that it was something very unusual when I meet the eyes of that copper headed man? He was so handsome and playful at the same time that I didn't fail to discern the modesty in his approach was captivating me again and again. I was struggling to be mindful of my job when his melodious voice sent flutters to my stomach. Then he took his drinks from the counter and left the money alone with some tip only for me. I blushed immediately for the first time to see such a huge amount as a mare tip. And I am telling you, Sanem, he is something. He was so forgiving and adorable and I felt very piteous when I watched a beastly man pulling him out of my gaze. Perhaps, I guessed, it was his mate as I didn't see him fighting but laughing. However, he was too drunk to defend himself. It was too late to save him so, I just stand there with my broken heart. And in the morning when the local shops opened I thought to fetch a gift for you with that handsome man's handsome tip. Believe me, it's a pleasure and finally, I am relieved and glad that you like this dress."
"Oh, Leilosh!" Enfolding her in my arms I press her back as I say, "My love swooned baby, don't worry. You have such a pure heart that I wish each of your wishes comes true one day. And who knows it's not the day? If you are meant for him, mark my word, you are then meant to meet him again. Though it's our last day here, I am quite hopeful, he is gonna find you out before the train crosses the platform."
"My dreamy Sanem!" She chuckles softly, rubbing my back. Then pulls away as she says, "We'll see. But for now please make haste. You've not forgotten that we are told to welcome our guests. Have you?" Narrowing her wide blue eyes she inquiries me with a snort.
"Oh, no! Not for a second. By the way, what's the name?" I ask playfully.
"Sanem!" She admonishes me with a warning stare.
I laugh at once, "yes, yes, yes. I am not supposed to forget anything as according to you I was born with a photographic memory."
"Of course!" She cuts in and lets out proudly, "Moreover, the topper of the year, which you are, is expected to know better about him more than anyone else because the authority has given her the Very responsibility. So, how could you make fun with such an important thing?"
"Because I can." Winking at her I procure an innocent smile and in return, she can not help laughing out heartily.
