"Merlin, as in the Sorcerer in the Arthurian tales we talked about in class today?" Gena asked Emery- no, Merlin- what ever- who was driving the car.

"Yep. The one and only." He said it like it's no big deal. Ok, maybe getting onto a car with a stranger was dumb, and getting into a car with a stranger who claimed to be the brother of a man who just assaulted her only minutes ago was suicidal. But Gena was never the one who back down from things she didn't know. Beside, it's late, and she'd hate to walk home.

"Um, not to be rude what you are not exactly..." " Old and mysterious with long white beard?" He finished the sentence with exactly what Gena wanted to say.

"Mature enough. Are you reading my mind, cause that would be creepy."

"I don't need to, it obvious. Though I don't know why would every book portrait me as this old senile wizard like Dumbledore."

"Okay, so I should just believe that you are hundreds of years old sorcerer?" Gena asked mockingly.

"It's a long story, do you really want to know?" Suddenly his voice turned serious, and his eyes, seemed to be clouding with sorrow. "The history of Camelot is long and sad. It's not a fairy tale you read in those books that titled knights if the round table. It's filled with blood, war, and death. Once you know, not even magic could erase every bits of the knowledge you posses. So think carefully"

Gena thought hard on her decision. She was in her senior year, one more year, High school will be done, and she could get out of his small damned town without turning her head twice. She didn't need any more crazy complications to mess with her mind. But the truth was, she was terrified by her close encounter with death, and she was sure that her mind was already messed up.

"Will those attacks continue regardless of whether I learn the truth or not?" Gena asked quietly, fearing for the answer coming next.

"To be honest, yes" he said without hesitation. "Gowther was just the beginning, now that it has started, there are far more dangerous creatures out there than my brainless brawl of a brother." Even though it sounds like a joke, his voice sent chills at Gena.

"Why?"

"I could tell you why, if you are determined to find out the truth. But if you don't want to open that gate, then it's best if you don't know."

Well, curiosity kills a cat, but Gena hated to be blind even more. "Tell me." She said quietly.

"It's better for me to show you." He pulled the car to the side and stop the engine. He raised his hand and placed it above Gena's head. Then he chanted a few words under his breath. Suddenly, Gena felt a splitting headache. For a second, she almost cursed her self for trusting this guy, he probably wanted to kill her just like his psychotic brother.

But her mind became clear quickly. In front of her, the scene changed. It wasn't the dark road lighted by a few lighting posts any more. Now, Gena could see the storm brewing, hear the thunder roaring. The ruin in front of her eyes seemed to reminded her something she had seen before.

It didn't take long for Gena to realize that this was what she dreamt before, but now she could see everything as clear as crystal. She could now recognize the man with the sword who was yelling and fighting the woman in black dress. So that was King Arthur, Gena thought in awe, such powerful aura spread from him and his sword- Excalibur. The woman beside him, the one with long auburn hair must be Queen Guinevere.

When Guinevere turned around, Gena almost screamed in shock. Her face, her eyes, she was the exact carbon copy of her. Is that even possible, it's like seeing a ghost of oneself. Her ambers eyes seemed to sear into her heart, unsettling her thoughts.
