CHAPTER: 1

“I have never seen anything in my life so amazing! She was so good at her job!” one of my employees said.

“Ok everybody back to work,” I said walking right in the middle of the group of people who were listening to Jason's story about the time he went to a movie stars performance. He had told that story almost every friday and yet, nobody got tired of it. Except me. I was thinking of firing the man just because of that story. I had never had something extraordinary happen to me.

My life is WORK, WORK and WORK. And maybe just a little bit of socializing in there. I have no boyfriend, one apartment that is perfect for just her and no one else but, and her dog a little tan poodle bichon named Jacie. (Livi was always everyones favorite she was always perfect and bold but always classy.) Today I decided to ware black slacks and a silk cream button up shirt that flowed around my hips. I had her hair perfectly pulled back in a clip and cream lace vintage heels.

“Liv don't you think you just need to relax? Take a day or two off and get away from the world. I feel like you're over stressed,” Jason said putting his arm around my shoulders. “Come on I'll pay for the whole trip. How about a cruise around to Caribbean! Or even better Europe you could travel Europe for free! I would pay for all of it.”

A trip did sound good but who would take care of my business? I own my own company and there is no way that she is giving over her business to Jason, or anyone for a week!

“Thanks for the offer Jason, but I have too much to do in so little time,” I said pushing his arm off of my shoulder.

“Youre going to regret this Livi,” he said as I walked away rolling my eyes.

I walked around my office seeing if everyone was still doing their jobs and stopped to look out the 9 by 14 foot window that overlooked the city. So much chaos happened in New York.

“Crystal!” I said turning around when I saw my assistants reflection in the window. “I need the papers from the Luke Stevens case. The Department wanted them.”

“They will be in your office by Tuesday ”

As I left the office building at 11:30 that night my ears were filled with police sirens like they always were when I left this late. Non familiar faces passed me on my way home. People with sunglasses and suits stared at me when I passed them.

Really... its almost midnight! Hate to brake it to you but it doesnt make you look cooler if you have sunglasses on in the dark.

I felt like she was being followed but everytime I looked behind my back no one was there. When I was passing the alleyway that was beside my house I looked into the darkness at the strange noise I heard. Before I could scream, he grabbed my hand and covered my mouth. I tried to scramble out of his grip but it was no use I was never getting out. As I started shedding treirs, I noticed through my glossy eyes, my saleto. I picked my foot up as far as I could and kicked him in the shin harder than I ever had before. The man moaned out in pain but didn't let go of me. Instead he fell with me in his arms against the brick wall behind us. A black van pulled up on the curb about 10 feet away from us. While the van was still practically moving a man slid the door open and jumped out.

“This is where it says she is!” he yelled in the phone that was on his ear.

“Stay here and don't move ” he said making practiclly no sound and softly letting her out of his warm arms. He jumped up and snuck behind the man still making no sound. As he turned around there was just enough light to see the boy that held me in his arms knock him to the pavement sidewalk knocked out. The boy slowly comes to me in a hushed tone and says,

“Need a hand?” he puts out his hand that has a black glove over it and takes mine.

“I Would love to tell you my name but that would blow my cover,” he says looking me straight in the eyes. Under the dark red mask I see something amazing in his green eyes. This was no ordinary man. We were staring at each other so closely that I finally looked away. When I look back he was gone and so was the van. I look around as if to see even a glimpse of the man that just saved my life. But nothing, the city was empty. Nothing but the gleam of the street lamp. I finally stand up, and walk  towards my apartment in amazment.

I walk up my apartment door steps and take the door handle in my hand ready to unlock it only to see the door was unlocked already. Once I get my whole body in the apartment and shut the door I open a desk drawer that I always kept a gun in just incase. Breathing as lightly as I could, I cocked the gun putting it in full aim at what ever was behind that corner.

"Hey you're home late."

I pointed the gun at the man standing in front of me. Only to see her brother Noah.

"NOAH!"

"What?!" He said putting his hands in the air.

"What are you doing here?!"

"I told you earlier I was coming over to visit for a while! What's with the gun?!"

"I thought you were a robber or something."

"Well now that you know I'm not can you please put down the gun."

I realized I was still holding the gun pointed at him. "Sorry."

I put the gun back in the drawer and walked over to hug my brother that was still standing there shocked.

He picked up his bags that were by the front door. And walked to the spare room across from my.

"Noah! Breakfast" I yell across the apartment.

He came out still half asleep moaning nonsense. As he finally reached the kitchen table he sat down and buried his head in his arms till he fell asleep again.

I set an omelet and smoothie on his placemat and walked back to the stove to get my own. The smell of food immediately woke Noah up. He shoved all of his food in once he looked at the time.

"Have to be somewhere?" I asked.

"I have a interview for a job in 20 minutes," he said with a mouth full of food.

"You, a job. Since when do you care about that kind of stuff?"

"Since mom kicked me out of the house to find a job and house. And I found the house part." He said spiting half of the food in his mouth onto the counter.

"Wait you think you're going to stay here till you get a job and are able to pay for your own apartment."

"Well yeah. When the time comes I'll move out," he said.

"You have 3 weeks," I said grabbing my plate of food and walking out to the front porch.
