I was responsible for waking up my sister, but I woke up 30 minutes late. My sister had to wake herself up, I packed her a lunch, and she set off. I had to make my mom lunch, and after that I would go to school. Today was different for some reason, I made my mother her lunch and put it under the door. But I got a note written by my mom, "thank you for caring for us since he left".

After our dad was taken, I have become my mother. My mom sits at the desk in her work room, she hasn't left there for 7 months, so I give her food as if she was locked up. I miss seeing my mom, I thought she was so pretty, in the few years I actually remember seeing her. She used to wear her hair in a bun, she would wear a dress once a week, she would casually wear shorts and a sweatshirt. She probably hasn't changed much since she's been in there, other than being filthy. I know how upset she is that dad left, but at least she's not drinking is what my sister and I always say.

I went to school after passing the note back "you're welcome I just hope to see you soon". I tried to follow the usual: sitting through class, doing my work, and at lunch sitting alone. Unfortunately, there was a new kid who sat with me. I didn't really want to talk to anyone, that's kind of the point of me sitting alone. She was pretty though so I didn't want to be rude, she had long brown hair and brown eyes.

"Hi, I'm Sophie."

"Hi."

"What's your name?"

"Gia" I replied, I never trust any new students with knowing my real name.

"Why were you sitting alone?"

"I like being alone."

"Oh, sorry."

"It's fine, I just don't like people much."

"I'll just go then, I don't want to be a bother."

"No, it's fine, you know what's been going on right?"

"Yeah, all the people are being captured."

"Do you know anything else?"

"Well my dad works there, he says they're testing medicines to see if they work against certain illnesses."

"Could you show me?"

"Show you what?"

"The inside of Hawthorne" I said, creating a plan inside my head to sneak my father out. It could work if she lets me in, I'll just need to be really quiet. She could show me around, maybe there's an all-access card that I'd have to use to get in. I'm sure I could steal one of those cards off of the people, I just hope Sophie isn't smart enough to realize that I'm going to sneak my father out.

"Of course! We can talk more then, I have calculus next. I guess I'll see you later, so I can give you a tour of Hawthorne."

"Great! I'll see you then" my plan will work perfectly, as long as there's not many guards.
