I woke up to my step father, Scott, screaming at my step brother, and throwing his empty beer bottles. Jason, my step brother, kept yelling about how he wanted to move out when he was old enough. Scott hated the thought of his oldest son leaving him, but I don't blame Jason for wanting to leave, I would gladly run away. Sometimes I wish my real dad had custody over me, just so I could get away from Scott. I walked down the stairs so that I could see Jason and Scott, Scott was throwing the beer bottles at Jason!

"You damn kid, you won't leave this house!" Scott yelled at Jason.

"I hate you! Ever since you and mom divorced you've just been so disrespectful to all of us! Even Bailey, and I'm not going to put up with it anymore!" Jason yelled.

"You'd never get far, not before I shoot you!"

"You wouldn't aim that gun at me after I jump the old fence!"

"You wanna bet I won't? I'll shoot my gun at you through my car window if you try to leave!" Scott yelled raising another bottle.

"Stop!" I screamed as Scott threw it. The bottle hit me in the leg, but I pushed Jason aside, he was already bleeding. The bottle broke against my thigh, and shards cut open my jeans.

"What did you just do!" Scott was furious.

"I saved him, go ahead, and kill me! That's how your daughter will end up anyways, if you keep reacting to her absence like this!"

Scott lunged at me, wrapping his meaty hands around my neck. Jason kicked Scott in the leg, making him release his grip on me. Scott then grabbed Jason, and carried him outside.

"Bailey, run!" Jason commanded.

"No, I'm not leaving you!" I yelled.

"Run, you damn kid!" Scott yelled "unless you want to get beat too!"

"You're not the boss of me!"

"I am when your mother is gone, now you go away!"

I went over to Jason, "lets go."

"No" Jason said, he motioned for me to come closer, "find her and bring her back here." What he did next shocked me, he kicked Scott's leg out from under him. Bringing Scott to the ground, he looked proud of his work. When Scott started to get back up I started running, Jason kicked him again but in his other leg.

I ran towards the Hawthorne building, through fields, and across roads. I never could bring myself to look back to see what happened to Jason. Hopefully finding Scott's daughter will make him stop hurting Jason so bad.
