"Leilany, stop looking so awkward." King Maxon Calix Schreave sighed, looking dead inside, as he adjusted the camera lens. "Just smile."
Princess Leilany Canada Schreave groaned and adjusted her hair to cover up her small ears. She forced a smile onto her face, but also looked very tired.
Suddenly, a girl ran into the photo studio, almost toppling over the set-up and patted Maxon on the head. "Erm, excusez-moi s'il vous plaît le roi Maxon."
"Jan!" Leilany jumped up from the stool she was sitting on.
"Lei!" Janice waved at Leilany.
"Ello!"
"Ello Lei!"
Maxon rolled his eyes. "Hello Janice."
"Oh, right!" Janice squinted at an index card. "Um, Leilany a une réunion importante à laquelle se rendre."
"Huh?" Leilany asked.
"Leilany has an important meeting to go to." Maxon translated. He paused. "Do you even know French, Janice?"
"No! It just sounded fancy and important." Janice smiled widely at Maxon.
"I know you're lying about the meeting. I checked Leilany's schedule."
"It's an emergency! Um, the peasants are revolting against the monarchy!"
Maxon groaned/
"I'm not lying!" Janice gestured wildly at the air.
"Sure." Maxon said sarcastically. "Fine. We'll stop for today."
"Yay!" Leilany screamed. She grabbed Janice's hand and bolted out of the studio.
They ran past startled guards and confused brownie chefs to the castle garden. Once they were outside, they tumbled onto the grass and laughed.
"Oh my Sky Papi, I can't believe that actually worked!" Janice smiled, rolling over to face Leilany.
"I think my dad wants to murder you and sacrifice you to Sky Papi though." Leilany replied, patting Janice on the head.
"How rude." Janice shook her head disapprovingly.
Leilany shrugged.
Janice Clementine Lee had been her friend since they first met in primary school. Janice had originally been a peasant, but Leilany hired Sam, a palace guard, to kidnap Janice and bring her to the castle in Angeles. Janice moved into the palace, and the two of them grew up together, despite Maxon threatening to kick her out on multiple occasions.
Maxon was often very rude like a Chad with arthritus.
