Hidden Away
In return, I gift you these
Gardenias signifying my secret love.
Although I know you'll always love her,
My hope still flies like a dove.
You act so different when you're with her,
Blushing, smiling, so on.
I think you'll only ever see me as a friend.
You wouldn't notice if I were gone.
And yet, I sit here, in the classroom with my thoughts,
Brushing the dust of the blackboard with you.
I'd like to think that fate decided this,
But no, my feelings are well due.
A bit of voluntary work
Wouldn't do our relationship much good.
But then, you lean across to me,
And say the most surprising thing you ever could...
