dog park

"kkami come on! it's your first time, aren't you excited?" hyunjin yelled across the room, calling his precious little dog. the long-haired chihuahua ran towards him and jumped into his owner's welcoming arms. hyunjin giggled when kkami licked his cheeks when he asked him for a kiss.

"look at you being all excited, who knows you might find some new friends?" he said, giving kkami's ears a rub before putting him down. as he finished putting the leash on the little guy, he slipped on his shoes and locked the door behind him.

today is the first day he's taking kkami to the dog park. hyunjin personally never went there, so he was also excited himself. just imagining the litter of puppies scattering around in the park could already make him smile, let alone making his first visit.

when the two got there, hyunjin looked for a friendly pack of dogs where he can let his dog roam freely around with. while he was walking him, kkami seemed to gain interest in one group of dogs just around his size and hyunjin thought it would be perfect.

after he had a soft talk with kkami, he finally took the leash off him and let him run around the park freely. a smile grew on hyunjin's lips as he watch his little baby interacting with other dogs and their owners.

the ravennette took this time to grab a bite of ice cream just around the corner. the sky that day was clear while the sun shines just nicely, and the cool breeze made the weather perfect for a day out. hyunjin bought himself a strawberry ice cream before heading back to check up on kkami.

on his way there, he was suddenly startled by a dog running in between his legs which made him jump and almost dropped his ice cream. he was so relieved that he managed to save the ice cream in time.

"berry!" someone shouted behind him, which startled hyunjin once again and sadly this time,

he couldn't save the ice cream.

hyunjin stared at the now, sad cone of strawberry ice cream that he dropped onto the grass off his own hands. he had a sad smile on his lips as he scolds himself for not being careful.

"oh my goodness, i am so so sorry." the same voice from before could be heard behind him, but it was slower and calmer this time, and guilty even. hyunjin then turned around to see someone that made him go,

"wow."

the stranger seemed to hear what he said and his eyes went wide. hyunjin just realized what came out of his mouth and cursed at himself internally. this doesn't happen often, but he can easily embarrass himself in front of complete strangers, especially attractive ones.

"i-i just wanted to say that i'm sorry, berry and i had no intention to startle you..." the stranger spoke up after a while, his eyes going to the ice cream hyunjin had dropped. "and i'm also sorry that we might've been the cause you dropped your ice cream." he scratched his nape, guilt eating him up when he saw how sad the other looked.

the dog who previously ran in between hyunjin's legs came back with a ball in his mouth, trotting his way to his owner. the guy went down on his knees to pet his dog before flashing a guilty smile towards hyunjin.

"w-what no, it's okay! it's not your fault, really. i can just buy a new one, it's no big deal." hyunjin fought back, not wanting the stranger to feel bad. to be frank, he was the one that was too jumpy and get startled easily.

"oh no, please. at least let me buy you a new one?" the other offered as he pressed on the word 'me', which made hyunjin ponders for a bit. after a while, he didn't see any harm in making new friends so he just gave in. "alright fine, just so you know that you owe me nothing okay?" he said, receiving a sweet smile from the other.

"well, sure. i'm chan by the way." the stranger who now has a name introduced himself and held out his hand. hyunjin froze a bit before accepting his hand and doing the same. "i'm hyunjin, nice to meet you."

"and this guy right here is berry. berry, say hi to hyunjin!" chan kneeled back down to pet his dog and even told him to say hi. berry barked and approached hyunjin, making the boy coo at his cuteness. after the small bonding session with berry, chan offered to walk hyunjin to the ice cream parlor.

they got to know each other a little bit as they walk. hyunjin found out chan is a bit older than him, and the latter discovered that the younger has a dog named kkami. when they arrived, hyunjin picked strawberry again since he couldn't enjoy his last one, and chan also picked one for himself. after the older payed for the both of them, they walked back to the dog park.

out in the distance, hyunjin could see kkami running towards him and he smiled widely. "hey little pup, come here!" he called out, and the ball of fluff circled around him, jumping in excitement. his owner kneeled down to give him a rub on the belly, and chan just happened to watch with a smile.

as they adored the small dog, berry came running up to chan but once he noticed kkami, they both started circling each other. chan and hyunjin looked at them in surprise, honestly not expecting their dogs to be so fond of each other already.

"awe, looks like they both like each other." hyunjin muttered as he smiles like a proud mother. chan heard and chuckled when he sees how cute hyunjin looked as he adored their dogs playing together.

"yeah, it really seems like it. and i think that could happen with the owners too, don't you think?" chan bravely said, his ears slowly going red. he isn't really the type to flirt, so he gets shy when he does and his pale skin isn't doing him any justice.

hyunjin looked at chan, surprised. he didn't expect the older to be so bold, but he wasn't complaining either. "w-what do you mean?" he asked, just to make sure he wasn't dreaming.

which he hopes he isn't.

"well, i was hoping to take you out for a meal sometime. whenever you're free of course." chan scratched his nape as he responded with a shy chuckle. this made hyunjin's cheeks go red as well, his heart also beating out of his chest.

"sure, i'm looking forward to it."

honestly inspired by hyunchan's howl in harmony episode hehe i wanted to write this when the episode came out but i haven't had the time ;-;

anyways i hope you enjoyed this one! i need to find more angsty prompts, i've been too soft and fluffy lately :cries:
