Julia loads the last of her boxes into her grandma's dark purple car. She looks around at the Arizona landscape where she grew up. Moving with her grandma to California.
"I'll miss you, J," her best friend Alice said while hugging her.
"I'll miss you, too. I'll text and call everyday though. I swear!" Julia rubs Alice's back as she cries.
"You better or I'll hunt you down!"
"I know you would."
"Julia, it's time to go, sweetheart," her grandma says gently.
"Bye Alice." Julia let's go slowly, not wanting to leave her only friend she has ever had.
"Bye, J." Alice trys to stop crying but it doesn't work.
Julia gets into the car and waves goodbye to Alice until she can no longer see her.
She puts in her eyebuds and listens to music by My Chemical Romance. Julia stares out of the car window and silently crys as she remembers memories with Alice. Having sleepovers, watching movies, having food fights, always having the best of times. Alice and her had always been friends since they could remember. Julia started to drift off to sleep while remembering all the fun times she will miss.
I'll never have anyone as good as Alice, she thinks right before falling into a deep sleep.
