Prolouge

Spotskin gasped and looked at Lizardstar with blurry vision, pain going through his legs like he's been running endless miles around NightriseClan's territory. As he caught his breath and vision cleared that told Lizardstar that he received his last life. The former leader smiled softly at her former deputy.
"With these nine lives of a leader, " The brown and white she-cat spoke, setting her muzzle on top of his hairless head. "I give you the name Spotstar." She lifted her muzzle and stepped back, her green eyes meeting his blue ones.

"I will try my best to lead NightriseClan, Lizardstar." Spotstar said, his tail swaying.
"I know you will. But before you leave, I have something to tell you." She said, her eyes losing her usual light and smile fading. "Is something wrong?" The tom asked, stepping forward.
"Walk with me, Spotstar. We'll talk on what's been bothering for quite some time." She softly said, clearly deep in thought. Turning her back towards the new leader, she flicked her thin tail to signal him to follow as she started padding away.

He quickly jumped up and followed the former leader through the starry path of Silverpelt. When they reached a patch of untouched grass, the she-cat turned and spoke. He stopped in his tracks.
"Keep this in mind my former deputy. There will be a small group of three NightriseClan cats. All friends. Two will destroy and rebuild the clan while or one will keep things the same. Pending on the cat you choose as your successor, the fate of NightriseClan rest in their paws." She told.

Spotstar was confused as his spine felt like thousands of claw tips was poking down his neck to tail bone. NightriseClan will be no more if he chooses the wrong deputy?

"You don't have to worry for the first few pawful of lives." She said, touching her nose to his head.

Before he could ask anything, he woke up at MoonTree, his medicine Cat, Falcontalon, lost in thought.
"Did you hear it too?" He asked the white tom. He nodded. "Hooktail told me." The medicine cat told his new leader. "You better start thinking of warriors to make deputy. The camp isn't too far."

The hairless cat blinked. " I already did last night when Lizardstar was dying. He mumbled. Falcontalon nodded. "Good, now let's get going. Redshine is due any moment and I don't want anything to happen while she's delivering." He said while walking back to camp, leaving Spotstar behind.

While he walked back to camp, Lizardstar's words echoed through his mind. "Two will destroy and rebuilt the clan or one will keep things the same."
