she didn't go to school that day

after the mess that happened last night how could she?

ring ring

"ember, why didn't you come to school today?"

"i-i don't know, ricky. i'm scared okay? nobody can ever  know what happened last night... i'm afraid that they'll take me away"

"i'm coming over right after school. stay where you are"

"o-okay.."

ricky ran out the door as soon as the bell rang. he knew ember needed him and he need answers from her. memories of the events last night flashed in his mind as he made his way to ember's dorm.

ember heard the secret knock on her door and knew it was her best friend. she tried to make herself more presentable but it didn't really matter at this point.

"hi.."

ricky has never seen this girl looking weak and defeated. leftover mascara still on her eyes and cheeks that probably melted because of her tears and a tired, raspy voice left her mouth from all the screaming she did last night.

ember quickly pulled in ricky into her room in fear of other's wandering eyes. "what am i gonna do, ricky? this kind of thing only ever happens in movies. i-i have no words how insane this situation is"

"look on the bright side, at least your 5 year old self's dreams came true"

"i was a child, ricky! things are different now and you know the opinions of the authorities are on people like me. they're gonna hunt me, beat me, do experiments on me, torture me, and once they're done with me they'll just throw me out like a piece of trash." ember exclaimed as she buried her face in her shaking hands. "this is more serious than we think"

"w-well what are we gonna do th-"

ricky's question got cut off as he heard a loud ringing in his ears and passed out on the floor.

"ricky! wake up! oh my god oh my god what the fuck is happening dear jesus if you're real please help ya girl out here" ember pleaded in a desperate and panicked voice.

ember then heard loud thumping on the other side of the door. judging from sound, it couldn't be any normal person.

"miss ember salvador, you are hereby mandated to come with us to The Center as you are deemed 'unfit to co-exist among the rest of society' please do not try to fight nor escape as we would like to maintain a smooth and peaceful arrest" a man with a low and authoritative voice announced.

ember's fear was replaced by anger and frustration.

i'm sorry i dragged you into this, ricky. but don't worry i'm gonna make it up to you ember thought to herself as she gently put down ricky on the floor.

ricky gained a bit of consciousness but the last thing he could see before passing out again was ember's glowing, stark white eyes.
