I woke up a bit later than I should have, so I was in a rush to get to the boat port in time. Luckily, I only had to run a short while before I was at the docks. I sprinted into the ticket office, and asked when the next departure was.
“Excuse me, when is the next boat?”
“It’s leaving in five minutes, you got enough for yourself to board?”
I nodded, still panting a little, and handed over my money. He gave me my ticket, and told me where I had to run.
I managed to just make it, but I had to jump onto the boat. The crew men thought it was funny, and showed me where my cabin was. They were pretty nice, and gave me a map of the boat because I missed the tour. I thanked them, and put my bag down in my cabin. I flopped on my bed, and smiled at the ceiling.
“Just made it.”
I rolled over, and looked out my window. The ocean was zooming by, but it was fairly flat. Perfect for this trip. I laid back down on my bed, and closed my eyes. Just thinking about where my new life would end up felt so good. I would work hard, and find a good house that isn’t too close to people, then I can perfect my magic.
But I was interrupted my some fierce knocking on my door.
“What?’
I wasn’t expecting anyone, and my eyes felt rather heavy.
“Dinner’s in ten minutes, just letting you know.”
“Oh, ok. Thank you!”
“If you get lost, just ask one of the crew. See you there.”
I went to my small bathroom and washed my face. I went back to my room, and put my letters into my suitcase, and my suitcase in one of the cupboards. I brought my wallet and map with me, and made my way to the dining hall. I noticed that the sun was starting to set, the sky was slowly getting a few shades darker. I had slept for a few hours, unintentionally.
I got into the dining hall, and noticed that there were a lot of other people on this boat. Most of them were families or lovers, there were a couple of single parents too. It seemed like I was the only single one on the boat. Oh well. No one will know about me because I will keep to myself on this trip.
I sat in a corner, and ordered my food. The waiter was one of the crew-men from before, and he recognised me from before.
“Hey buddy, how are you?”
“I’m alright, a little tired though…”
“Don’t worry, you’ll get your sea legs in a while. What would you like tonight?”
“Hmm, I’ll take… Schnitzel with vegetables, and a lemon-lime bitters thank you.”
I grabbed my wallet. Ready to pay, only to hear the waiter start to laugh a little.
