"Mihaela, wake up", I heard the soothing sound of Layla softly shaking me awake. I opened my eyes and could tell she had been asleep as well. I yawned and stretched, then followed her out of the car.
"Layla I know it's gotten late, you are welcome to stay here if you don't want to make the long drive home."
She yawned while watching the car we just exited drive off. "No I need to get back, I have a lot to prepare for at the office, so I'm going to try and get a head start". She looked at me and I knew what she was trying to ask.
"I totally understand, I'm not sure when I'll be back and I know it's been a lot on you since...." I trailed off, and she quickly responded, "No don't you dare say that. I have plenty of help and you need to take as much time as you need doll. Don't you dare worry about work. I promise it will be there when you are ready", she smiled and gave me a big hug.
I waited until she had drove off and unlocked the door to walk into what was now my home. I had never felt more alone, but I didn't know at that moment I wasn't.
I threw my keys and the notebook in my purse sitting on the entrance hallway table, kicked my flats off, and sat my long dead phone on the wireless charger. I walked in the pitch black living room and felt along the couch until I got to the table that had the remote I was looking for and clicked on the fireplace.
The light flooded the living room, and sitting across from me, all I could make out was emerald eyes.
I screamed so loud, I know it scared him more than he thought he was going to scare me by sitting in the dark.
He stood up and started towards me, but I was prepared. I grabbed the big glass bowl that the remotes and other small knickknacks were kept in and threw it as hard as I could at him. I must have caught him by surprise because it hit him right in the face. The loud thump it made when it collided with his head was met with a grunt and moan. I looked back and seen him leaning over holding his face.
I ran into the kitchen with the intention of grabbing a butchers knife, but my socks had no grip and I slipped going around the corner on the wooden flooring. I looked back and seen Dorian walked towards me with blood running down his face. Honestly I was terrified. Who was this man to think this was ok? I pulled myself up and made it into the kitchen. All I could see between my heart beating was the drawer where I knew Rumen kept the knifes. I made it to the counter and as soon as my hand wrapped around the drawer handle I felt his arms wrap around my waist and yank me away. I cried out in fear as he easily lifted me away, but I didn't let go of the drawer which slid open, but he pulled me again and the handle slipped out of my grasp. I started kicking my feet trying to make contact with any part of his body. He dropped me on the floor and I turned over on my back and went to go kick him again. He grabbed my ankles and slid me along the floor as he sat on my thighs and held my hands at my sides.
I screamed as loud as I could but I knew it was no good. He was obviously stronger and would easier over power me, especially in this position.
He let go of my right hand and put his hand over my mouth to shut me up.
"Can you please stop screaming Miss Erikson, you could be in danger and I have a headache now." He pleaded with me, while the red blood poured out from underneath his hair, dripping on his shirt.
I just stared at him. Not like I could really reply, so I the only thing I could think of, I reached up and slapped my now free hand in his face as hard as I could.
He growled at me and stood up while yanking me up by my arms and pushed me against the fridge facing him, his feet on either side on mine to keep me from moving and one arm holding both my wrist behind my back against the cold metal of the fridge and the other tightly over my mouth. He pressed the weight of his body into mine to keep me from escaping.
