Avia's POV
Being the nerd in class is never the best idea, but sometimes you honestly can't help it I guess. At least I'm one of the lucky ones who has friends- oh I should probably introduce myself. My name is Avia Carter, and I'm a self and school proclaimed nerd. I look the part, glasses and braces with my brown hair usually in a bun, plus I'm the second smartest kid in class under my friend Nico. Nico, who has black hair and deep brown eyes, and Thalia, who also has black hair but electric blue eyes, are my friends, are the two only people in our school that actually give a shit about me, so I'm thankful for that. They're cousins, Thalia could be one of the popular girls if she really wanted to, but she stuck with Nico and I after the three of us made friends on the first day of school.
Now, it's pride month right now, so the school is having an outdoor pride event which I'm attending with Thalia, Nico and some mysterious friends. The three of us are all apart of the community, myself being a demisexual lesbian, Thalia being a bi demigirl and Nico being ace and gay, so it was hopefully going to be a good time for all of us.
Standing at the door of the school and waiting for my friends, I adjust my jacket my mom helped me make. It's a brown leather jacket with fringe in the lesbain flag colours, the best jacket I've ever had to be honest. My phone pings and I whip it out, seeing a text from my mom asking how it's going. I type back quickly, saying that I'm waiting for Thalia and Nico. I smile at her reply, a heart and have fun, as a black sports car I recognize as Nico's. I jump up and walk over to the car, placing my phone in my pocket, Thalia waving from the back seat and grinning. In the passenger seat is a blond haired boy with a trans flag on his cheek. Nico waves to me as well, getting out of the car and waiting for the others before locking it. They walk over to me, a fourth person with long blonde hair and a shirt the colours of the bi flag grabs Thalia's with a soft smile. She pauses and grins at her, pressing a kiss to her temple. I see Nico roll his eyes from beside me, the other boy with his arm around Nico's waist.
"Care to introduce me?" I ask, smirking at Nico. He hip checks the boy next to him with a rare smile.
"This is Will, my boyfriend," Will kisses his head with a smile, "and that's Thaliabeth, or Thalia and Annabeth, who finally started dating a week ago."
"You're one to talk mister Death Breath," Thalia shoots back, a smirk on her face.
"We were dating for 6 months, you guys just didn't realize," Will says, and I see him squeeze Nico's waist, which makes the pale faced boy blush lightly. I laugh at that, which makes Thalia snort as well. He grumbles under his breath as we start walking to the back of the school for a day full of pride and acceptance.
