Like the beginning of my first year, I was getting a lot of attention around Hogwarts. Last year, it was because of the hatstall. This year, it was because of my time as Gryffindor Seeker. Oddly enough, I was... popular. I kind of liked it, if I was honest. It wasn't like last year, where all the attention I had was negative. Now, it was positive attention. And that was very good.
As I sat down for Charms class, a Ravenclaw sat on my left, and Victoire sat on my right. I heard her talking about something. My brain decided, against my will, that I must eavesdrop.
"Yeah... a boy had to sleep on the couch... the magical barrier to the boys' dormitory stopped him from entering. It let him right into the girls' though... so he decided to sleep on the couch in the main area" she said.
I'd never heard of anything like that happening before. It was unheard of. It very much confused me. I felt bad for the guy, though. It must not have been fun.
And everyone was gossiping about him. The poor guy was exiled from the dormitory, and now everyone was talking about him. I think he'd want to be left alone. It was like me with the hatstall last year. Maybe I didn't want everyone talking about it all the time. He probably doesn't either.
Later that day, I had a free period because I'd taken the N.E.W.T. test for Flying ahead of time to see if I could waive off flying classes due to my childhood training. And I passed, so I had free time when all the other Gryffindors in my year had flying. Naturally, I decided to roam the halls today.
Suddenly, a first year rounded the corner, frantically looking at a school map. He had dark skin, dark eyes, and dark, curly hair. He barely looked up from the map at all.
"Are you lost?" I asked him.
He looked up for just a moment and nodded.
"Where are you headed?" I inquired.
"Potions," he replied, looking up again.
I told him the way to the dungeons, and from there told him how to get to the potions classroom.
"Thank you," he spoke, before heading off in that direction.
"No problem."
At lunch, I noticed the same boy sitting by himself, so I sat on the other side of the Ravenclaw table, facing him.
"Hello," I smiled to him. "My name is Lauren Wood. What's your name?"
The curly-haired boy hesitated. "A-Adrian... Brown. Th-thank you, for uh, helping me find the Potions room today."
"Again, no problem," I smiled. "So, tell me a bit about yourself."
"Well, uh, I like ...musical theatre... and reading, and history, and art."
I nodded. "I like Quidditch... it's my brand, really. My mum and dad both play quidditch professionally," I explained.
"Wait- are your parents Oliver and Ellie Wood?" Adrian smiled a bit.
"Yep," I answered simply.
"That's cool. Is it weird having famous parents?"
"A little, yeah," I chuckled.
"I heard about the Quidditch Cup last year. You sound like a good Seeker," He said
I shrugged. "You can decide that when you get to watch your first game here."
