[after the incident in the super market]

"You alright, Mobius? Looking a little pale. Your little pet fail y-?"

"Not. Right now."

Mobius buried his face in his hands, not even realizing how bad he just snapped at Judge Renslayer. He's normally never in a bad mood- his job had been pretty easy up until this point. You interview the varient, prune them, move on. Why is this any different?

"Sorry.. tea?" She handed Mobius a cup, and he took it apologetically, giving her a look of empathy.

"We'll catch this variant, Mobius. You may have screwed up, your Loki may have screwed up, but.. you're the best of us. I truly believe it'll work itself out."

"I know... thank you."

"So.. why are you upset?"

"I really thought I could trust him, you know? I thought.. we trusted each other?"

She chuckled. "He's a Loki, Mobius. They always-"

"Yeah, well, this one's different, okay?" He snapped. "...sorry."

".. it's alright.. do you.. have something you want to tell me? About him? Why you.. trust him so much?" He could tell she chose her words very carefully, the way she talked so slowly and fiddled with her tea cup in her hands.

"What.. do you mean?" He knew exactly what she meant, but he just pretended like he didn't for some reason.

"Well.. you seem to have.. grown attached to him? Am I wrong?"

Mobius stared down at his tea, his face more scrunched and worried than he meant to have it. 

"What do you mean?"

"Mobius.. you.. you empathize with him, you talk with him, laugh with him."

"It's my job to talk to him."

"Is it your job to look at him the way you do?"

Mobius put down his tea cup angrily, starting towards the door.

"Mobius! Mobius, wait.."

He sighed and turned around.

"I'm sorry for saying that. But you can't lie to me. I've known you since the TVA started. You know.." she softened her tone and went to a whisper. "You know why this is a bad idea? Pursuing this variant?"

Mobius turned back towards the door, not saying anything for a moment.

"I know it's a bad idea.. I know I'm trusting more than I should." he picked up a pruning device and his tempad. "But I care too much to just let this go."
