Chapter 25

After the emotional reunion with my father, we talked some random things about what happened in our lives for the past two years. He scolded me at first for what's gotten into my mind why I decided to went on another place without him knowing and I just left an innate letter on his library table.

Umiiyak akong nagpaliwanag sa kanya ng aking simpleng dahilan na nais ko ring matutong mag-isa sa buhay at kakayanin lahat ng pagsubok na dumarating. He cried and still understand my determination.

Kating-kati na ako sa magtanong at sabihin sa kanya lahat ng aking napagdaanan noon sa kanyang asawa at anak ngunit habang nakikita ang kanyang masayang mukha na may kakaibang glow nawalan ako nang lakas.

I can't attain to erase that glow on his face. My father deserved to be happy. Alam kong marami rin siyang problema sa buhay at ngayon na dumating na ako. Hindi ko kaya na ako ang maging rason kung bakit malungkot o sumasakit naman ang kanyang ulo sa stress.

I need to give him enough rest. And then after that I will try to approach and ask him directly. Nangako ako kay Nixus na pagkatapos malaman ang katotohanan ay babalik ako sa Valle Vista. Hindi madali pero kailangan tuparin ko iyon.

We watched him enjoys eating like a starved man for years. Madaldal din ito at halos ayaw na niyang umalis ako sa kanyang tabi. He was holding me with his right hand as he was using his left hand to eat.

“Hey, handsome young chef. Are you my princess’ boyfriend?” biglang tanong nito na rason na nagpaubo kay Tauseef.

Malapad ang ngiti ng aking ama sa kanya habang nakasandok pa rin sa lunch box.

“Papa naman eh! Chef Tauseef was my friend,” agad akong umangal sa naging tanong nito. Narinig ko naman na tumawa lang aking katabi na mukhang sayang-saya sa naiirita kong reaksyon.

I turned to glare at him and he just shrugged like a pro. Tss, what a really arrogant man.

“She’s right Tito. We've met months ago in Mayor Carlos' wedding and then after that we sometimes met in some events and seminars. We share the same passion for cooking. We helped each other in times of difficult circumstances. She shared his secret on me and–”

“Stop! I didn't share my secret to you. Darn it!” I elbowed him earning another laugh from him.

He was really enjoying this, huh. Kailan pa kami naging ganoon ka close? Tsk, we just met and talked casually sometimes but that's it! There's no sharing or helping each other's asses.

“Language hija..” My father said and I pouted at him. “What did I told you before, no expletives.”

“Tama naman kasi ako eh!” Umingos ako. “Y'know he's kind of a makulit man Papa. He was always calling me but I blocked his number in my phone. Ang ingay din niya kahit sa Messenger kaya binlock ko rin siya roon. We didn't talk and met that much in Valle Vista. I was busy with my boy– I mean other best friends there!” depensa ko.

Damn, muntik na yon ah. Mabuti na lang at hindi na notice ni Papa pero nang bumaling ako sa aking katabi. Seryoso ang mata nito pero nakangisi pa rin. Hayy, minsan ang weird ng Chef na to.

“I was glad that you live a happy life there hija and you gain a lot of friends too. For two years, I always thought if how was my daughter doing in the place she went on. Sobrang pag-aalala ang aking ginawa at minsan ay hindi na ako nakakatulog–”

Napangiti ito nang bigla ko siyang yakapin at ibinaon ko ang aking mukha sa kanyang dibdib. “I.. I'm sorry Papa if I left without telling you. And I really missed you. You never know how hard it was for me to be away from you. I.. I was scared but I did still tried to continue my life in that new place thinking that if I'm gonna succeed. You will be proud of me at last. And you will never think of me as an unruly, dumb and worthless child. I'm so sorry Papa..” I weeped again on his chest. I then inhaled his scent that was feel like home. I felt contented.
