“JAY HYUNG, JAY HYUNG!!” I shouted across the room, unable to contain my excitement.

“What is it, Niki?” Jay shouted back, his voice tinged with curiosity and amusement.

“Don’t call me that, call me Riki. Ddeunoo might hear you,” I said, lowering my voice to a whisper as I approached him. He just chuckled at my nervousness.

“Okay, okay, Riki. What is it?” he asked, looking at me expectantly.

“Well, Sunoo just wrote a letter back to me. Here, read it,” I said, handing him the letter with a mix of excitement and anxiety.

Dear my Secret Admirer,

Why are you doing this? Did you really mean what you said in the last letter you sent?

Btw, how did you know that I like mint chocolates?

Another question, how the heck did you know my locker password?

Jay read the letter and looked up at me, his eyes wide with surprise. “You should write back,” he said simply, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

“Is that it?” I replied bluntly, feeling a bit let down by his nonchalant reaction.

“Well, it’s your life choices, not mine,” he shrugged, rolling his eyes.

I pulled out a special mint chocolate-scented letter paper, my favorite for writing to Sunoo, and started to pen my reply, my mind racing with thoughts and emotions.

Dear Ddeunoo hyung,

I'm doing this because I'm shy, and when I talk to you, I get so nervous that I can’t handle my emotions properly.

I meant what I said—I love you. I've loved you since we were 12, and now we’re 18. Yeah, I know, six years—that’s crazy, right? But don’t worry, I’ll reveal myself when I’m ready.

I’m not going to take another six years, just wait, Sunoo... hyung!

(And your password... I just guessed it. Don’t use your birthday as your password 😘)

“Wow, you wrote a lot,” Jay said, glancing at the letter I had just finished.

We were sitting in our usual spot at the café near our school, a cozy place with the best sandwiches and drinks. I took a bite of my sandwich, feeling the weight of my words settle in my chest.

“Yeah, he asked a lot of questions,” I mumbled, chewing thoughtfully.

“When are you going to confess?” Jay asked, his tone serious for once. “What if he gets tired of waiting and looking for you?”

“I know when I’m going to confess,” I said, a hint of determination in my voice as I took another bite of the sandwich.

“When is that?” he pressed, his eyes searching mine for answers.

I just smiled at him, a secret smile that held all my hopes and dreams. “You’ll see,” I said softly, already picturing the moment in my mind.
