“Well, I agree with him,” Jungwon said after he finished reading the letter.

We were sitting in our classroom, having arrived early today, so we had some time to gossip.

“On which part?” I asked him curiously.

“Using your birthday as your password is stupid,” he said, laughing while I glared at him.

“YAH! I can’t think of anything more secure than my birthday as my password,” I said, giving him a light hit on the shoulder.

“Ouch, hyung, you’re hurting me,” he said dramatically.

“Ugh, you’re such a diva,” I said, and he giggled.

“Anyways, he’s had a crush on you for six years, hyung—six years,” he emphasized.

“Yeah, I know. That’s shocking,” I said, still in disbelief.

Really? Six years and you haven’t confessed to me? Whoever this is, he’s so stupid.

“Change the topic—what are you going to do? Are you going to wait for another letter? What if you hide somewhere and look to see who is behind all of this?” Jungwon suggested, and I nodded slowly.

“Omo—you’re smart, Jungwon. I never thought of that,” I said, impressed by his idea.

“Well, of course, I’m smart and you’re dumb,” he said, laughing as I looked at him angrily.

“YAH!” I said, and we both laughed.

We quieted down because our teacher had entered the room.

“Thank God, you two stopped talking,” someone said, and I looked at my seatmate, Riki.

“Well, cover your ears, Riki. It’s not that hard,” I said sassily to him.

“So, I’m the one who has to adjust?” he said coldly.

“Well, ye—” Before I could continue, our teacher, Sir Park, shouted at us.

“Mr. Nishimura and Mr. Kim, detention after class,” he said, and I was shocked, standing up immediately.

“B-but Riki is a-ann—” I started to protest.

“No more excuses, Mr. Kim,” he said firmly, and I just sat down, frowning.

“It’s your fault, Riki,” I said, rolling my eyes.

“So, am I going to wait for you after class?” Jungwon asked me.

“Nope, you go home without me,” I said, and he nodded.

As we sat in detention, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of frustration and curiosity. Who was this secret admirer, and why had he waited so long to confess? The mystery gnawed at me, and I decided that Jungwon’s idea of spying to catch my admirer in the act was brilliant.

The next day, I found a good hiding spot near my locker, determined to discover the identity of my secret admirer. Jungwon joined me, equally curious and excited.

“This is going to be so much fun, hyung!” Jungwon whispered, barely able to contain his excitement.

“Shhh, we have to be quiet or we’ll give ourselves away,” I said, feeling a thrill of anticipation.

We waited patiently, and finally, we saw a figure approaching my locker. My heart raced as the person fumbled with the lock, placing another letter inside.

“There he is!” Jungwon whispered excitedly.

I watched closely, trying to get a good look at his face. But before I could see clearly, the person hurried away, disappearing around the corner.

“Did you see who it was?” Jungwon asked eagerly.

“No, but at least we know he’s real,” I said, feeling a mix of frustration and relief.

Over the next few days, I continued to receive letters from my secret admirer. Each one was more heartfelt than the last, and my curiosity grew stronger. With Jungwon’s help, I tried different strategies to catch him in the act, but he was always one step ahead.

One afternoon, as I sat in the café with Jungwon, I couldn’t stop thinking about the letters.

“What’s on your mind, Sunoo?” Jungwon asked, noticing my distracted state.

“I’m just trying to figure out who my secret admirer is,” I admitted.

“You’ll find out eventually. Just be patient,” Jungwon said with a reassuring smile.

As I took a bite of my sandwich, I realized that maybe Jay was right. Maybe I just needed to let things unfold naturally. After all, whoever my secret admirer was, he had been waiting for six years. A little more time wouldn’t hurt.

With that thought, I decided to enjoy the mystery for a little longer, savoring the excitement and anticipation of each new letter.
