World number 14 – Letios
Year 2899.
I sat at the table with my eyes fixed on now already cold cup of coffee. On the other side of the table was my father. Judging by human standards, you would think he is my older brother, bearing in mind our ages. Well, at least the ages of our bodies. Our souls are much older than that. Not that I know the exact number, considering that when you become a God and you embark on your further journey, the concept of time simply does not exist.
We are living in a space where time does not pass. We don't age. We don't change unless we decide to make that change ourselves. Time only exists in the worlds where mortals live. Though some Gods, still longing for the life they once had, decide to continue living the same way they did before, only in a new world that they themselves created.
My father, however, is not like one of those Gods. He used to be an elf, and even though he kept his previous look - straight, long, blond hair that gracefully falls down all the way to his waist, pointed ears, and eyes as blue as the azure sky - nothing else connects him to that species any longer. Now he's a real God. He made his own world. One that he looks after from a distance. He does not interfere in its course unless threatened with complete annihilation, and even then, he sends his helpers – demigods – instead of going there himself.
Like I already mentioned before, the ages of the bodies we reside in are quite close. My own is only seventeen, while his is in its early twenties. Humans would most certainly find this inconceivable. However, once you ascend, things like these are not even a little bit strange. Everyone takes on a form they so desire, no questions asked.
I finally looked away from my cup and glanced at my father. He was still watching me indifferently, waiting for me patiently to make a first step like we had all the time in the world. Which I suppose we had.
I sighed and began to state my in advance prepared excuses.
"That old geezer... Ah, I mean, that grandpa is at fault this time. He should have told me where the war would take place. Then I wouldn't teleport in the middle of a battlefield. I clearly chose that location because it would be uninhabited. And then, once I already showed up, I couldn't just sit still while they attack me, could I now? You could say it was self-defense."
"Against mortals, who wouldn't be able to touch a single strand of yours even if they all came together?"
Silence ensued. I didn't have another comeback. After all, it was true. Why did I do that? Probably because I was an idiot. There was no other explanation. I averted my gaze and proceeded to stare at my coffee.
He let out a sigh and continued.
"Maybe it's not a vacation per se, but you can go to Sarai. She noticed some strange things happening in her world lately, and she suspects it's the work of a Damned. She was thinking of asking the Higher Order for help, but I told her I'd send someone her way to take care of it," he said while bringing his cup closer to his lips and gracefully taking a sip.
I took but a moment to decide. It wasn't a bad idea. It wouldn't be my first time to go against a Damned - God who disobeyed the rules of the universe and started attacking others' worlds and killing the weaker.
If someone suspects even for a second that a Damned has come to their world, they call for the Higher Order right away. The Higher Order consists of Higher Beings - beings that are one rank above Gods and whose sole purpose is to maintain order in the universe and make sure that every single creation is following the rules of The Sovereign.
Sarai's world is one that only has humans inhabiting it. It's a world of martial arts where humans rank themselves based on the amount of ki they possess. The more you have, the more powerful you are and the higher standing in society you have. I already visited a similar world before. Martial arts are not new to me, and ki is akin to aether or mana in other worlds. After a short break, I accepted his proposal, and, the very next day, found myself in a new world.
