I wake up yet again in a hospital, the beeping of the monitors and the bright lights really starting to get on my nerves. Then it hits me that I don't see Theo. Where is he? I ring for the nurse since I don't see anyone around and she comes in almost immediately, I recognize her as my nurse from before.
"Do you know where the boy I was with is? His name's Theo." I ask as I struggle to sit up.
"Hey lets not move around too much just yet alright? You took a pretty hard hit in that accident." She answers
"Where. Is. Theo?" As she didn't answer my question I ask again and continue to struggle until I'm sitting up.
"Calm down and we'll talk about that after we check your vitals and get your personal information."
I glare at her, knowing she's not going to answer my question. "My name is Farah Isaacs, I'm 19 years old, 5'1, I live in apartment 302 in the South Complex downtown, and, and oh my gosh I remember. I remember everything." I look up at the nurse who's smiling while trying to write all the information down that I just gave her.
"We were hoping maybe the impact of the accident would bring your memory back, I'm glad it did. We sent your friend down the hall to get cleaned up. I'm sure he'll be glad to find out you remember who you are."
"Or maybe not." I whisper just loud enough for me to hear as she leaves the room.
Now that I remember I wish I didn't. I thought when I did I'd remember a happy life, a family, anyone who'd really have missed my absence but there's no one. Now that I've got my memory back all I've got is an empty life, the life I deserve. I remember the reason I live alone, the reason I've been on the streets since 16. My mothers words jumble around in my head, the words I'd gotten so used to being called over the years. First from her, then from my dozens of foster parents before I finally escaped from the system. I felt the warm tears begin to slide down my face as I remembered every word, every shout, every slap, every reason I'm so completely worthless and undeserving of the attention I've been receiving from Theo.

*Theo's POV*
They finally convinced me to come and get cleaned up, telling me that having Farah wake up to me covered in her blood would freak her out. I guess they're right but I know they also just don't want me dirtying they're pristine hospital. I finish getting dressed and start to head to her room as the nurse comes practically running down the hall.
"Theo! She remembers, Farah Isaacs remembers." Something about the name is familiar but I ignore it and take off down the hall towards Farah's room, slowing to a walk a few doors down. I look in to see her staring straight ahead, tears streaming slowly down her face. I walk in and carefully sit on the edge of the bed facing her.
"Farah? Doll, whats wrong?" She turns to look at me and I get a look at her eyes. They're no longer the sparkling, life filled eyes she had hours before. Her eyes are dead, a sad, pained look that takes me by surprise.
"I remember Theo, you don't need to stick around anymore, I'm fine." She tells me quietly before looking away. That strikes a nerve and I can feel myself beginning to get angry.
"You can't just tell me to go away." I tell her, hearing the sharpness in my voice. She winces and I take a breath to calm down before trying again.
"Farah come on what's wrong just tell me."
"Just go away Theo, it's for the best." She ends in almost a whisper and turns away, blocking me out.
I get up and walk out of the room frustrated. The nurse gives me a copy of the information she got from Farah and I start to skim the details.
Name: Farah Isaacs
Age: 19
Height: 5'1
Address: Apartment 302 South Complex downtown.
I still feel a familiarity when I read the name but can't place it so I call my friend Jake.
"Hey man what's up?" He asks
"You remember that girl I told you about? The one I found?"
"Yeah, hot amnesia girl." I ignore his use of the word hot.
"Well we got in a car accident and she remembers now, the name Farah Isaacs mean anything to you?" I hear him whistle on the other end of the line.
"You found Farah Isaacs? Damn man good luck. Don't you remember John Isaacs? He got taken down in some gang war. His wife was a junkie, heard the daughter didn't leave the house much. Anyways his wife OD'd when the girl was like 16 leaving her as the sole heir to thousands. The West Gang has been trying to find her for years." The more he talked the more I remembered the story. Jake and I run the East Gang, cliche I know that all the gangs around here are named after their territory but no one wanted some weird ass name like the Star Gang or some shit like that.
"Thanks Jake, don't mention to anyone that I've found her. I'll talk to you later."
"Aight man, be careful." And with that said he hangs up. I head back to Farah's room and find her sleeping. I debate in my head for a minute before I lay down next to her, she rolls over in her sleep towards me and I figure it can't hurt to hold her till she wakes up.
