I begin to shake as I let that news sink in.

I don't know my name. What am I going to do?

"You don't know your own name?"

I look back up into the guys eyes.

"What's yours?"

"Theo, my names Theo." He says. "What happened to you?"

"I-I don"t remember that either."

"Well you need to be in a hospital."

"A hospital? No, no I'm fine." I start backing away not sure if I want to go anywhere with the gu- with Theo. If that's even his name. How do I know he's not the one that attacked me?

"Look. Your head is bleeding, there's blood on your shirt from your head or something else I don't know but I can't leave you bleeding out in an alley. Stop being stubborn and let me help you!"

The way his voice rose at the end causes me to back up into the wall and I close my eyes hearing those words "stop being stubborn" repeating over and over in my mind, but not in Theo's voice. I hear the words in a much harsher, angrier voice. I cover my ears trying to get the voice out of my head and begin to shake. As I start to calm down I vaguely hear Theo apologizing and trying to soothe my fear while still keeping a distance from me.

"Please, please just let me get you to a hospital okay? I'll leave after that if you want but let me get you there." He's got a pleading, worried look in his eyes and somehow I know he's really trying to help me.

"Okay" I whisper. "I'll go."

After what seems like a lifetime we arrive at the hospital and Theo has to practically carry me into the emergency room. Almost as soon as we walk in we're swarmed with nurses and I'm being helped onto a gurney and taken back for examination. I must've been exhausted because when I wake several hours later I'm in a hospital room full of beeping monitors. I look around and see Theo staring at me from his spot in the chair in the corner of the room.

"You wanna know what the doctor said?" He asks

I just nod my head, noticing that there's only a dull ache where there used to be a sharp pain. Must be the pain killers.

"You've got a concussion, hence the amnesia, and a stab to your abdomen, hence all the blood."

"A stab...?"

"Mmhm."

"I don't remember being stabbed" He looks at me like I'm an idiot and I remember the amnesia.

"I don't think this was an accident. Someone wants something from you."

"But I don't have anything anyone would want"

"I hate to break it to you doll but you don't know that for sure."

Doll? Anyways I guess he's right. I need to remember.

"How long will I have amnesia?" I ask, knowing there isn't really an answer.

"There's no way to know for sure but the doctor said because your concussion didn't put you in a coma he's hoping it'll return quickly. You just need something to trigger it."

"That'll be helpful trying to get home." I frown realizing I'll have nowhere to go when I'm released.

"Hey don't worry about that for now. When they release you I don't mind if you stay with me till we figure this out. I won't hurt you."

"We?" I ask, not sure if I heard correctly.

"Well I'm not letting you wander the streets alone in the winter not knowing who you are doll. I'm not that cruel."

Ugh there he goes again calling me doll "Why do you keep calling me doll?" I ask, fixing my curious stare on him.

"Well we don't know your name and I've got to call you something." He looks at me, smirking. I glare back.

"Ok, but really? Doll?"

"Yup."

I roll my eyes and I can feel exhaustion creeping up once again. "Whatever."

And with that said I drift back off into a restless sleep.
